Griz vs PSU

Glad for the win. Second half was rough. Did Riley say it was 10 Minutes without a FG in the second half? Crazy they still got to 80 points.

Griz shot 40% in the 2nd half even with that stretch. Normally, one would think that long would put a team in the teens.

But how many ft's were made during that same foul fest time frame?

Griz were 28-35 on FTs for the game. Viks 24-31 on FTs.

Outside of my typical lane but some post game thoughts (my dad and I share a pair of season tickets)

- Full court press / trap defense of PSU's was a nightmare for our guys. Sac kind of tried it Thursday and did keep the game closer because of it as well. I'd expect we see this again so hopefully the guys can keep working on this in prep. I'd really worry about playing PSU on a neutral court in the tourney.

- Crowd was great, best I'd experienced in quite a while, better than the Griz-cat crowd this year (in terms of energy). Not the biggest but a solid turnout. After the game Travis said the crowd noise was disputing PSU bc their players couldn't hear the playcall from their coaches. on a few possessions. Wish we could get that type of crowd more often - oh and it was done with only maybe 20-30 students there.

- Odd night for Vasquez, only points came from free throws, but I think they were all clutch needed ones late in the game.

- Bummer on Oke fouling out on senior night, the last two calls against him were totally bogus. A PSU player grabs his arm and pulls him down on a rebound attempt, foul on Oke. An out of control KJ Allen attempts some wild/falling down layup and is off his feet, doesn't really even actually come into contact with Laolu... foul.

- Clutch late hits from Aanen, he was in what seemed like a bit of funk earlier this month but has clutched up of late, going to need that.

- Monster game from Dischon, great way to play on senior night. Guy was seemingly doing it all out there.

- I know he had a few mid-game turnover issues but scoring and attacking the rim I thought Whitney had a real nice night.

- More good glimpses of the years to come with Henderson getting good significant moments and playing some of the better basketball I've seen from him, and now Sawyer not only showing some good post play but apparently some range too with a few 3's!

- Weird that we didn't see G Williams at all, I know Travis talks a lot about matchups, must've just been the plan not to use him?

- KJ Allen on PSU is a beast

- Officiating... woof. Fouls on both sides were called way too much, both teams hit the bonus with about 12:30 left to go in the game, so many free throws shot. Fans were groaning a lot just wanting to actually see a game and not a free throw contest. UM and PSU are two physical teams, I wish this crew would have let them just play through some of it rather than take the thing over. Silver lining (I suppose) was that the calls were balanced both ways.

3 of Oke's fouls were questionable calls at best.
Thanks for being positive on Henderson. A few here, are being a little harsh on him or expect too much of a true Freshman PG.

It was more about the lack of shots during that span than shooting a low percentage.
