Griz vs. North Alabama Predictions

I have no idea how good WIU is this year, but they weren't great last year either (5-6) but still beat the Griz in Missoula. North Alabama should not be overlooked or under-respected. i don't do prediction scores, but i think most of the predictions are very ignorant. I fully expect a difficult match-up.

WIU didn't beat the Griz in Missoula. That was our first road game last year and we had a 10 point lead in the 4th only to give it away late as was the the common theme last year.

The contrast from game one this season and last is promising. We surprised UNI early and hung on for dear life late. This year on the road agianst a good team we dominated and chewed the clock at will in the 4th.

North Alabama picked a bad year to travel up here and take on a rebounding power FCS program in the confines of Washington Griz.

49-20 Griz

This UNA team is no joke. I think they are still tough to gage tho. WIU is gonna be pretty bad this year in the MVFC. But UNA controlled that game. Tough trip to go from Bama to montanach-up but they also have had more days of prep and presumably all watched our game live on sat.

31-21 Griz

I have no idea how good WIU is this year, but they weren't great last year either (5-6) but still beat the Griz in Missoula. North Alabama should not be overlooked or under-respected. i don't do prediction scores, but i think most of the predictions are very ignorant. I fully expect a difficult match-up.

Actually I put quite a bit of thought into my prediction:

1. Other than last year (which was an anomaly) the Griz are traditionally very difficult to beat at home, and while home field advantage is supposedly only good for 3 points, I would spot the Griz more like 7. As much as we all joke about the cold and loud crap, WaGriz is still not an easy place to get a win, especially not for a team that has never played there before.
2. The Griz beat a decent USD team on the road by 14 points, and left a number of points off the board via the missed FG and the kneel down in the red zone to run the clock out. (That's not even counting the dumb interception in the end zone.)
3. Griz D only allowed USD 17 points.
4. While I was also surprised that UNA beat the Leathernecks, I watched the game and WIU didn't look great. UNA only scored 26 on them at home, with a 9 point margin of victory.
5. There is no way of knowing (yet) if UNA is better or worse than USD, however I made my prediction based on them being at least as good as USD or maybe even somewhat better. Therefore I took the Griz score against USD (31) and adjusted it up 3 for the field goal we could have kicked at the end, then added 7 for home field advantage. That gave me 41 for the Griz.
6. To come up with a score for the Lions, I started with the 26 they scored at home last week, took off 3 points since it's a road game and another 3 points because Griz D is better than WIU and they ended up with 20.

My methodology is possibly (probably... Okay definitely) quite flawed but hey it's message board prognostication. Obviously none of us have any idea what's going to happen, but that doesn't make our predictions ignorant. ;)

I believe this game will be more of a test than many appear to think.

Before my prediction I am hoping for a more balanced offensive attack by the Griz by getting a run game going. I suspect N.Alabama will see last weeks film on the Griz receivers and not play as soft of coverage as S.Dakota did. Maybe this will open up the run game a bit more. That’s my hope!

I think this one remains close until the start of the fourth. I think our depth helps in this game all around and come the 4th UNA D is gassed. Griz don’t let up and score 2 TD’s in the 4th to pull away.

Griz 38
UNA 24

I'm going with

Montana by 13... one TD before the half to break the tie, two FGs late in the 4th.

27-14

Or, it could be a blowout and I get to spend the rest of the week ahead in dred for what the rest of the season has in store.
