Good points....hm.grwn.grizfan said:I'm interested to see how the NAU D coordinator approaches this game. Last season, we were without a QB that presented a real threat to pick the secondary apart. D coordinators really keyed in on stopping our run game. With JJ back, it should be interesting to see how they try to slow this offense down.

I don't think I will either. hahaGriz2k said:hm.grwn.grizfan said:I'm interested to see how the NAU D coordinator approaches this game. My guess is that he's already having nightmares about it and he wont get more than 3 hours of sleep Friday night.

This game will definitely tell us if our O is as unstoppable as we think it is.
I'm expecting the D to remain stingy considering NAU's offensive struggles.
I'm hoping for a solid W agianst a top tier defense. We do that and this team is going places.

This. NAU has a good pass defense and is in top 20 in total defense. APP and ND are not even in the top 50 for total defense. This is going to be a good test for our offense. Could turn out to be two good defenses getting after it. However, with the balance and options the Griz have on offense, Griz by a comfortable 10 points.

The Lumberjacks led 13-0 at halftime after senior running back and NAU’s all-time leading rusher Zach Bauman scored a 3-yard touchdown, his first in six games. Bauman finished with 151 yards on 22 carries. “It was good to run the ball better today and see Zach get back on track,” Souers said. “Our offense got some more confidence, but we have to improve our downfield passing game.”
Souers also said the pass protection needs more consistency and improvement as sophomore quarterback Kyren Poe was knocked around quite a bit and sacked three times. Poe completed 17 of 31 passes for 154 yards. He threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Dejzon Walker in the third quarter to put NAU up 19-0, but he also threw an interception and gave up a fumble.
Bauman said there was a good balance between the running game and passing game for NAU, something that helped him get the yards he did. “We had a great gameplan and we knew what kind of players they had and what was going to work against them,” he said. “The line was tremendous and the holes I was running through were huge. Being able to throw the ball downfield, the offense hit a stride.”
Playing the first home game of the season also gave the Jacks a little boost of momentum it needed, especially once USD started surging in the fourth quarter. The Coyotes got on the board with 14:14 left to play on a 24-yard Miles Bergner field goal, and added a pair of touchdowns to get within six points of NAU. Vander Maten ran one score in from 2-yards out and threw a 6-yard pass to Nick Meyer for the second.
A very large student section did its best to make things difficult for USD’s offense. “It was an electric atmosphere and as a football player that’s what you live for,” Poe said. “Playing in front of your home crowd with your teammates, it’s a great feeling.”
The Lumberjacks get right back to work in preparing for Montana, which will visit Saturday at 6 p.m. during Family Weekend. Souers said despite the rivalry, every conference opponent deserves the same merit. “In order to keep up with (Montana) we’ve got to shore up a lot of things but that’s what college football is all about.”

So one is they are pretty young, espeically on the right side with a Soph at RG and a reshirt freshman at RT, and secondly are not that big.

225 pounds on the right guard has to be a typo.
