Stocks w/a huge 3! 3:54 left, Griz up 53-47. Looks like we may live and die by 3 ball and outside jumpers this year. I'd think we'd play more up tempo. Seems like we've just been passing the ball along the perimeter, thinking Q is magically gonna be down low, then chucking a jumper. Maybe Tinks will have them start pushing the ball more later in the year.

As the young guys get more experience, and we get Selvig back, we will have the depth to cater to more uptempo.
Because we're missing 1 "big" (1 player) and have 3 other "bigs", we can't play more up-tempo? Or is it just lettin the young-uns' get a few more games in them before pushing tempo more? I'm not questioning the coaching, I'm just curious is all.

Thanks fellas it's been fun. Griz still looking clunky and out of sync. Don't seem to have consistent energy this year. Hopefully that will get fixed.

A win is a win! Great job getting it done, Griz! Keep getting better, there were some good things to take away from that win and more to work on! Only going to get better!

Word. I'll take an ugly win over a pretty loss any day. :thumb:

To play uptempo, we do not have the depth in place yet. We need a solid rotation of 4 bigs to man Center and PF, With Selvig out, we do not have it. Especially more so, with our bigs being foul prone so far. Also would be nice to find a 4th guard to go with Cherry, Jamar, and Stockton. Hard to rely on Wood with his inconsistent play. We are fine at SF to play uptempo, Steward, Jamar, and Weisner is a great SF combo.

I believe once the GRIZ find out how healthy Selvig is, we will begin to see more uptempo, at the very least more pressure in the half court defense.

OK...at least it is something to build on....the good news about this game is that Idaho is not NAIA....

I gotcha. That makes perfect sense. Thanks for taking the time to explain it. Thanks for the lesson, teach! :D :ugeek:

Great 1st half, lousy 2nd half on offense. Thank God, Tinkle has defense as a staple in this program. When he 1st took over, we hardly ever won games likes this. Defense keeps the GRIZ in most every game.

This offense will be more consistent with Selvig returning. As for rebounding, he will help some, but we have a long way to go there. Huchison's and Reader's development will make or break this season for the GRIZ. If they play inconsistent, we may have a disappointing conference season, just over .500 in conference play. IF they step up, this team will be about where they were last year. I just don't see anyone challenging Weber State for 1st in conference play. They have some damn good talent and depth. Meanwhile the GRIZ will likely be inconsistent to mid January.

As ugly as the 2nd half was, I am pleased with defense, and encouraged with more willingness to look for open 3's, instead of turning them down.

Nice 3 by Stockton. Do you some of you remember how inconsistent Qvale was as a FR and SO? Very inconsistent. Patience with the bigs. Selvig's experience will help in a week or 2.

While i completely agree with you we need patience but, Hutch should be comared (not that he should be compared at all, little unfair) to BQ as a junior and is a complete shell of what BQ was at this stage. It just does not seem he has develoved at all. Still VERY, VERY raw after 2 plus years in the program. He has the ability and size but...

Love Readers attitude and potential. He WILL be a very good player for us.

Our lack of an actual scorer also hurts us, but we can be so good defensively it will mask that. WC is a defender and opportunistic scorer, not a go to guy, same as kareem, and even selvig(upon his return) has always been a better facilitator than a scorer, though i have very high hopes for him and feel he understands what he needs to be for this team.

While i like our players individually, im not sure about the make-up of this team. But will support to the end.

GO GRIZ!!!

I don't know, Kareem may not seem like a go to guy, but I think he will be soon.

This officiating is a little one sided in the 2nd half.
both teams are getting hit by refs....just a bad game...bad crowd...sloppy..the Griz can win, but they need to show a little life..not out of control aggression and they have no post play, whatsoever..on either side.....Cherry is trying to do it all himself, and might be able to do it...

What was BAD about us?
