I was talking to someone from Tennessee today. I told him that I was watching the team I played for play a playoff game this weekend. He asked me what team I played for. When I said EWU, he said "Oh they have the red turf, right?" Then he asked if I was on the team that won the Chipper. He asked who we were playing, I told him the university of montana. He said he wasn't familiar and asked if they were any good.

I've had many conversations very similar to this.

You are trying way too hard here my man.

You have every right to puff your chest about the Eastern program. They have superior athletes and coaches right now. They have dominated the Griz recently, and supplanted them as THE team in the BSC. You have the best QB and WR in the country in my opinion, and I think you’ll make a run at the NC this year. Candidly, I don’t expect the game this weekend to be that close.

That said, this story is complete BS. To think Eastern is anywhere near UM in terms of national recognition is horseshit, and you know it. Even the most rabid, Griz hating troll would not agree with this.

Go ahead and boast about what EWU is on the field. You don’t need to make shit like this up to prove your point.

What is funny is I have had the same exact experience. You would be surprised how many people nationwide recognize us for the red turf. I've heard both hatred and admiration for the turf, but people recognize it all the same.

I think that Griz fans just get so caught up in always being surrounded by other Griz fans in Montana, that they don't realize their program doesn't really exist outside of their state. Sure, the Griz have created a better brand than most FCS programs, but in the thick of things, they aren't important.

I live in Seattle.

More people here are familiar with the GRIZ than with ewoo. All they "know" about ewoo is that "the Huskies played a DII team this year".

But you are correct that there's a great deal of hatred for that field.

I guess we all have a story or two that will fit whatever argument we want it to fit.

On Tuesday I was in a meeting with an investment advisor from ND. NDSU alum and season ticket holder. Knew all about the Griz and knew nothing about Eastern.

Bottom line fact: There is no way in hell that EWU is anywhere near UM in terms of national recognition. Not even close. Again, go ahead an boast about what happens on the field. You have the right too, but this argument is just insane.

Its not an argument. Its a story. And if mine is unbelievable because the grizz played and lost to the vols, than yours is ridiculous. I doubt that if this person follows NDSU football, he doesn't know EWU. That quarter final game should ring a bell, pun intended.

Ummm... he did say it was a story. A story that fits an argument you have.

If it weren't for low class ewoo wouldn't have any (tampon field).

Depends on the age group. A bunch of older people know that Montana used to be a powerhouse in the FCS but not so much anymore. Younger people know that EWU is an FCS powerhouse today.

I once breast fed an injured parakeet back to good health. I also broke it off with Megan Fox because her thumbs grossed me out. This is the thread where we are just posting lies and fairy tales, right?

I live in Virginia, and most everyone I meet knows who the GRIZ are, and they always ask me who i think they will play in the championship this year!

Lets not mention a GRIZ on the Tennessee Titans making the pro bowl! I think they know who we are! Fear The Great Bear my friend!

Not a lot of Griz highlights, but still gets you ready for the game this Saturday...

I was really getting into the story. Did Megan Fox also nurse the parakeet?

No. And she has never heard of EWU. And she agrees that FormerEag might be insane.

Michael Roos went to the pro bowl with the titans.

My point was only that people, especially in Tennessee, know good and well who the GRIZ are.
Not that they don't who owns that horrible colored high school'ish "stadium" in washington,or who played there. Just calling BS on "no one knows who the GRIZ are" stories.

Who is Michael Roos?
I think he played for a team in the same conference as Montana.

That clip does a great job of showing two of the greatest TD catches you'll ever see. If the Eags WRs don't make those plays, who knows what happens.
