Just to prove a point.
Still wrong. I don't care what the quote-unquote grammar checker says. But let's appeal to authority. We need an English teacher. Has anybody seen David2, I mean Grizzoola, around? Dave?
The Ginger Grammar Checker would be correct if one were making fun of another for another group's grammar. Like if I made fun of JNClark's third grade teacher for his or her pupils' grammar, I would be "making fun of someone (the teacher) because of their (the students') grammar, where the "their" is already established.
ALL WEATHER: I hereby make fun of you because your students don't know basic grammar!
THIRD GRADE TEACHER: Great, go ahead and make fun of someone because of
their grammar (gesturing toward stupid students).
This is (a) why the Grammar Checker doesn't flag the sentence as unequivocally incorrect, and (b) NOT what Jnclark was attempting to do, at all.
