Griz vs. Cal Poly on Altitude

I tried to see if I could record it on Altitude and it said game not available in our area..WTF I live in Montana and cannot get the Cowles channel.

I believe it is blacked out in our area on Altitude because many of the in-state "city markets" (Missoula, Billings, Bozeman, Helena, etc.) will be showing it on SWX, Cowles' sports channel. But, for those of us in Montana who don't live in those areas and who can't get SWX, we're out of luck. Nice. Thanks, UM and Cowles Montana Media for not thinking of us.

In-state Montanans with no access to the Cowles channel no question get the shaft.

OP: "streaming via Internet won't work" yet posters point to a website...? There is a remarkable amount of "not reading" done here.

 Thanks for helping me out. I am going to call Dish today and ask them why it has to be blocked out on Altitude for those of us who can't get SWX. I am not expecting success, but it won't hurt to give it a try.

I still appreciate the "not reading" posters wanting to help -- it's the thought that counts! I think it's hard for people who are used to having "real" Internet to believe that many of us are still way behind . . . and, with Dishnet, you get a whopping 14GB allowance for the entire month, so it's not like you could do a lot of streaming even if worked well enough to make that possible.

Might try Grisly Fan's suggestion of an FTA satellite - we've got a few 15 year olds in the general area who are always looking for something electronic to tinker with!
I have successfully helped others install their systems and tune in games. It has never been easier now that there are iPhone apps that can help you first be sure you have an obstructed view of the required satellite in the sky and then help point your dish. You used to have to mess with compasses and charts for magnetic correction for true south and a fair amount of guessing/trial and error Pretty much easy, peasy now. I'd be happy to help in any way possible.

You only get a 14GB allowance per month? That sucks!

Go Griz All Access will have a stream that you can pay for! In the past, this was the stream that I would capture.

You've mentioned before that you have Dishnet gbm, do you get TV through Dish? With my Dish Network set-up I get the local channels out of Great Falls that carry the non-Root Griz games. Is that not an option for you?

Yep, but it's better than dial-up which is all we had before Dish. So, it's expensive, it doesn't work very well, we don't get much of it, but we're still very grateful for it. Still, next week when the only option to see the Griz game is ESPN 3, we will be cursing it again!

Thanks for the suggestion, but, no - we get "local" channels out of Billings on Dish, but all we get for the Cowles channel is the regular KULR8 NBC channel, not their SWX channel which is the channel carrying the game. I think some people in the state can get it on the Fox Channel, as well, but our Dish Fox Channel isn't showing the game. There has been talk locally about a group appeal to Dish to get the Bozeman channels instead for our local channels which would solve this. Guess I'd better get busy getting that underway . . . for this game, we'll drive to Bozeman or Billings to be able to see the game.
