Griz/Viking thread.

We were really looking forward to going to tonights game after dinner. However, our waiter was so slow we didn't finish dinner until 7:30. Since it was that late, we decided against going to the game. I retrospect, I really should have tipped the waiter much more.

I guess I'm the only fan who still had fun at the game, even tho we got whooped. As I said in another thread, PSU is very good, shot very well, and played very well. They would have beaten some top 20 teams tonight.

I don't agree with the extreme criticism of the coach or the team. PSU came out tough. We played with them okay in the early minutes. The refs did us no favors, missing 3 travel calls and making other questionable calls/misses in the early part of the half. PSU outrebounded us badly the whole game. I give them lots of credit.

The refs let everything go early, and then changed and started calling everything. Worst officiated game I've seen this year.

PSU just keep coming, and the Griz could not stop them. I don't know why we got outrebounded so badly, but I didn't otherwise notice lack of effort on the part of the team. Stauds had no points and almost no shots in the first half. Martin wasn't hitting. PSU blocked a number of our shots. Strait seemed bugged by his mask. Rundles came in and made a few shots and plays, but then took a couple weaker shots. PSU was good at driving into the lane and dishing.

Payton, Martin was 2-9 for the game. Don't know where you got your bad stats. Most of Martin's shots came later in the game, when the game was lost. Don't know why someone was dissing Vanderjagt. Thought he played fine and he got some rebounds.

Graves played the last 11 minutes. He looked quick and dribbled the ball well. He played fine. He was picked clean around mid-court on one possession and had another turnover. He hit a 3, but missed 3 others. Was 3-6 from the line. He looked like he has good potential, but based only on these 11 minutes, I wouldn't say he should be playing in front of the top 4 guards.

Hopefully, the team can rally and get a win at ISU.

Mtgrizrule, I don't know how you can say you're embarrassed you supported this team. You are a great supporter, knowledgeable of the sport and provide terrific info and analysis, but I'm surprised you said that.

Oops, typo. Martin 1- 9. Hasquet 2-8. Stauds, Sharp, Spurgetis and Graves all 1-4. CET 2-5. Rundles 2-4. No had more than 1 three, of 25 taken.

Lost rebounds 45 to 23.

I understand why you defend the FB team after they get outplayed in games they have no business getting outplayed in.

I play Devil's A. on the board. Stupidly at times, but someone has to. It would be unfair to the U to have sunshine and roses sprayed over the courts and field at all times.

I truly understand the satisfaction you get from defending a random NFL scout's opinion of UM's passing game regarding the completion % of the QB to the RBs.

I don't say it on the board, but I also appreciate the one and two point losses against the conference champs of the likely best teams from the top ranked conferences when they come to Missoula and get a win. It is highly likely that are among the best teams in the division, even if they are beating out our Grizzlies.

But when you come on here and defend a 50 point loss vs PSU when UM was ranked the top pre-season team in the conference by every major publication in the biz, I have to question you on a honest level.

Do you really think PSU is that good? 50 point win at D-Berg on senior night good? I haven't checked, but is this the biggest point margin win in PSU's history?

Is this the worst MBB team assembled at UM since PSU joined the conference?

Is PSU at least going to make some noise in the BSC tourney? Will they play the 16 seed(?) in the NCAAs at least as well as the Griz have in the past few years?

It's going to be really hard to justifiy UM saving face on a superficial level if they don't....... right? Or is a 50 point win at an opponent's court reasonable in the BSC?

Do you think Tinkle would have a job next year if he didn't have a contract extending into 2009?

question....would we have seen this type of ass-kicking under Larry?ever?,,,the answer is NEVER...I am done..cannot support this pathetic display...I donot blame the kids,,it is attitude,,,that oh, we're alright,,we'll be okay, a break here a break there,,a foul shot made here ,,and we would have won,,,,it just doesn't cut it..and covers up the lack of intensity that prevails,,,this team has never reached its potential,,,all year and not very optimistic for next..."PSU would have beaten a top 20 team",,,no because a top 20-or top 50 team prepares, and comes out with some DESIRE! I have given up....GO Ladies...

Yes, PSU was incredibly good last night. I think they could have beaten top 20 teams and played with most of the rest of them. PSU is very talented and very deep. PSU shot incredibly well, rebounded well, hit the offensive boards, blocked shots, played very tough defense (including doubling Strait whenever he got the ball down low), and didn't make many mistakes.

PSU had an outstanding weekend--the best they've ever played according to one of their assistants. Getting some injured guys back has helped them. They've won 11 straight conference games. They're on a roll and keeping their fingers crossed.

Unless they have a huge let down, they are going to mop up at the Big Sky tourney.

In the paper today, Tinkle does give them credit.

This doesn't mean UM played well, or that the game wasn't an embarrassment. However, anyone who was at the game and understands basketball, will say that PSU was outstanding and had an incredible night.

The way PSU played last night they could probably make it to the sweet 16 (if they pull a 12-14 seed).

Seriously, they played an amazing game of basketball, maybe it was made to look better because of the incredibly disappointing way the Griz played, but watching PSU last night, they looked unstoppable.

I haven't seen Graves play this year, but from descriptions of those who have it sounds as if he has potential. Yet the coaches obviously don't seem to think so, given his limited playing time in the face of under-performance by many of the other guards. Anyone know if they've told him to look for another school next year, or what the deal is? I take it they need to give his scholarship to someone else. Doesn't seem like he's been treated real well.

Last time I looked, the Griz have offered a couple of senior high school players besides the ones we already have commitments from. If true, someone else must be leaving before next season begins.

LOL wait till our best players are eligible.....
I'm glad Chris doesn't go out and do crap like this.

I agree - and the best part is Portland State fans spend all their time obsessing over the Griz when really (other than this and 2 football games in the last 12 years) - they are hardly a blip on our radar.

There is also alot of bitterness in this area that Griz fans outnumber Viking fans 10:1. Sad really.

Speaking of incoming high school players....Stockton from Ferris High School in Spokane helped his team to its second consecutive Washington 4A title last night....to complete a second 29-0 season in a row. http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/preps/353412_boys4a02ww.html

LOL Oh is that so OBSF?

I have no intention to smack to griz fans, this is just an amazing win, though lots of Viking fans are throwing this into the face of a UM fan who will not stop trolling on the "other"PSU board. Just see for yourself
