Griz to Finish 3rd in Big Sky

3rd place would be a good finish for a team with a postseason ban.

The last team I can remember getting one of those was ewooooooooo. Damn cheaters. Maybe if you weren't paying 115 coaches you could build an actual college football stadium.

It's not the size of the stadium, it's how you use it. And last I checked, EWU has a NC banner in the last decade... and UM does not.

Things will be back to normal soon enough.

I can tell you the boys in that locker room would be very disappointed with a 3rd place finish.

The biggest difference between last year and this year will be the quarterback position. That will make all the difference in the world.

DING :!: DING :!: DING :!: DING :!: DING :!: We have a winner, G&B...for knowing the reason between last seasons Griz failure and this season's sure success -----> a QB that isn't in over his head.

GRIZ will return to their normal #1 position in the BSC, and take a run at the chipper, like as usual.

Pretty much what Tripp said today.

people keep saying this, but you have to keep in mind that the defense returning 10 players isn't the same defense that returned 10 players in 2011. we were fifth in scoring defense and fourth in total defense last year, but the 2010 team was second in scoring defense and first in total defense. i'm not ready to bet the farm that the 2013 defense is going to be as good as the 2011 defense and i'm not so sure the 2013 offense is going to be as good as the 2011 offense. hopefully i'm wrong, but you can't ignore those statistics. we simply don't look like we're returning the 2011 defense. that was a special group that comes along once in a lifetime.
Once in a lifetime? How many times have we made it to the semis? Hard to do that with bad defense.

Hmm. Well considering we've been co-champs three years running, I'd say we've earned the Big Sky hype? Pretty hard to be overrated when you are picked to finish first and finish tied for first...
Possibly because you are continually overmatched in the playoffs. Not a real kudo for the BSC.

BigKid, safety may be the only position the boys from Bozo have an advantage. I'll take JJ and day over DM and twice on Saturdays. Look at how JJ gave DM a seminar on being a BSC qb the last time they faced each other. DM is a turnover waiting to happen. Just saying.

With JJ back, with as much depth on defense as we have, I'd expect, well, hope for, an undefeated season and a total embarrassment of the Cats Nov. 23, followed by the NC! GO GRIZ!!!
You guys are old and delirium has set in! :ugeek:

I do enjoy your posts, and for a cat fan, they are pretty realistic. Delirium is, for the most part, a temporary condition. Age and dementia is the proper analogy. And, as usual, the one with dementia is the last to know. :thumb:

What's wrong with that?

At least MSU is getting to the playoffs, when they are losing they are losing to better teams. Every coach will tell you there is no shame in losing to a better team.

Kudos to MSU, I would rather Weber make the playoffs and lose in round 1 than not make the playoffs at all.

Tell me, do you feel the same way when the Montana mens basketball program wins the Big Sky conference wins the conf tournament goes to the Big Dance and gets curb stomped by 47 in round 1?

To me Montana was beaten by a better team, a bigger faster more athletic team, there is no shame in that. But Montana deserves all the Kudos for making it there in the first place.

did you even read my post? it's a comparison between the 2011 defense and this years defense. like this year the 2011 defense returned 10 players, but they were coming off a year in which they led the league it total d and were second in points allowed. this year's is coming off a ranking of fourth and fifth in those categories. the 2011 d had two players drafted, which was a first in school history. this d has maybe one late round draftee. 2011 had three first team and three second team and three hm all conf players from the d.
for some reason people think j.j. was the main reason we were successful in 2011. we were no. 1 in scoring d and total d in 2011. and it wasn't even close. we gave up nearly five points less than the second best d and nearly a half yard less per play.

Of course I read your post or I wouldn't have responded. You think the 2011 defense was a "once in a lifetime" gorup; they made it to semis. We have been to semis 11 times. I'm not so sure the 2011 D separated itself from the other 10; you don't get to the semis with bad D. And you're overly critical of the 2012 D. Their stats are scewed by a couple bad games and an offense that could not sustain drives, and had very poor TOP. With most of the front 7 back and experienced enough to fix past mistakes, even average secondary play will make this a dominant D, particularly with an offense that will sustain drives and give them a breather.

just imagine what the team would've done with an o to match the d. the defense wasn't the only reason those other teams made the semis. the offense was usually better than top six in yards per play those years.

Well if the BSC doesn't like it, maybe more than one of you guys should beat us in a season, eh? Keep us out of the playoffs then!

I love reading this thread. Some serious piss in many different bowls of Cheerios. Holy crap the season can't get her fast enough.

The Griz were basically 1 measily coaches vote away from being picked second in the league, and after a losing season mind you!

This tells you that the coaches know why the Griz dropped those close games last year, and know that getting our national semi-final QB back will remedy those close loses in 2013!

no, it basically doesn't. we were 19 points behind the eags. 130-111. you'd have to take one of their first place votes and give it us and then drop them to last and they'd still be ahead of us. poly was just two points behind us and n.a.u. was just seven back. 111-109-104. the coaches were a lot closer to picking us fifth than they were to picking us second. same is true in the media poll.

The way the coaches and alumni at Sac are talking ; they have had the greatest recruiting year since Charles Roberts. Sac, my school, is always such disappointment. After six years the best the coach can do is 6th place. Anyone up your way looking for a job?

Touche...but also ironic since nobody outside of UM has won an out-right conference championship in the last 15 years.
