Griz Soccer 2026

I'm not meaning to come off looking like an asshole or anything, but it this really that big of a deal? It's not like we're cutting scholarships or eliminating sports in their totality. There's plenty of coaches in the Athletic Department (including Football) that have to share offices. Is it ideal? Probably not but it's not the end of the world. Plus let's not act like there aren't currently plans to do a massive South Campus renovation for new locker rooms and additional space that they could likely use as offices. The sooner we raise that money then the sooner they can get shovels in the dirt and these little minute complaints go away.

There's a lot of reasons one could call for a change at AD (and most of those are fair criticism) but I personally don't think this is that big of an issue.
I don’t think the actual office space is an issue-- it’s just indicative of how the AD treats one of its most consistently successful women’s programs.

After three back to back conference championships & an NCAA tournament appearance - it took 2 months to hire a a new head coach. Yes, potential coaches knew it would be a team that needed rebuilding, but IMO, they may also have smelled the lack of administrative support to get the job done.

Soccer is consistently the winningest program at UM, and deserves to be treated with respect. Kent promised Chris 8 years ago that they would renovate the south campus facilities. Would take anything Kent or Jean say with a grain of salt. Nothing at UM changes till people make enough of a ruckus.
Overheard couple weeks ago that the athletics department had been reported to US Department of Education (Title IX Violations), Health and Human Services and OSHA (because of the South campus facilities).
Well that sounds like a great way to set the Athletic Department back even further. A DOE investigation, as if that isn’t part of what set us back for so long any way. If you want change then go to the President, but for the love of God I hope nobody here is stupid enough to report UM to the DOE. Jesus Christ some people.

And guess what? Acting like these problems only happen at UM is a very naive take. At just about every school in America, Football and Basketball are always going to be prioritized over everything else. Whether that’s fair or not, that’s the truth. Even for the most successful Olympic sports programs. Arkansas just eliminated their Tennis program last month, and they were actually a pretty successful program. Why? Because Football is king.

Don’t get me wrong, Haslam needs to do everything he can to support all of our programs and give them the resources needed to be successful. But there’s no way everyone will always be satisfied 100% of the time. There’s lots of give and take. Somebody has to make tough decisions and we can agree/disagree about whether it should be Kent or not, but these problems exist everywhere in College Athletics.

We still have DoE, HHS, and OSHA? I thought those were all gone with the DOGE cuts.

I also haven’t heard any talk of him not being extended either. I’d imagine a decision would have to be made pretty soon though. We got 2 weeks.
So I was reading up on his contract. They have to give him 5 months notice that he’s not going to be renewed so basically by the end of the year I think we’re going to see a change.

But his contract expires in 2 weeks. If he is not given notice then they have to pay him November 30. His contract is still gonna expire at the end of the month.

Only that speaking to other donors they are all not happy with Haslam. They have reiterated that the big time donor are extremely unhappy administration and would like to see a lot of change.

Fingers crossed! The AD needs to go, and a new one that can get some control needs to come in. So much messed up things happening that just get swept under the rug because if you speak out then you go against the Brand and are a Bobcat fan (which is weird).

Maybe this bigtime donor pays Haslam's exit fee.
