Griz Soccer 2026

I count 6 -- not counting Elizabeth Proulx & Abby Lagrandeur

Class of 2027 Verbal Commitments:
Vega Arancibia - Portland Thorns Academy (OR) - MF/OB
Alyssa Maniar - Internationals SC ECNL (OH) - Forward
Kaylie Rai - Burlington (Ontario, Canada) - Goalkeeper
Isabella Sanabria-Cora - LAFC SoCal ECNL (CA) - Forward/MF
Addison Sarina - Marin FC ECNL (CA) - Forward
Janessa Ward - Modesto City FC (CA) - Defender

Side note: Has anyone noticed that, unlike Cito, Coach Stu is bringing in ethnically diverse players? I personally love it!
He's had a lot of success in the past with international players.

I have the same list - some really strong pick ups. I am a little confused why Janessa isn't just coming in the fall but maybe an academic issue - needs to wrap up a program at her JUCO? I also noticed the diversity and it's really refreshing as we've been one of the least diverse programs around the last decade. Also noticed how WSU very quickly went the opposite direction. Look how diverse they've been the last several seasons compared to their current roster.

I think WSU has 3 or 4 international freshman coming in this season.

They have two, goalie from New Zealand and defender from Columbia rest of incoming freshman are from Seattle, CA and Utah.

Made nine appearances in 19 games for the Razorbacks last fall. Season ended with an OT loss to UW in the second round of NCAA tournament

Power 4 talent for Denver playing in the WCC is huge as they play Santa Clara and Pepperdine. They also got a stud forward from Boise.

With only 3 forwards and all 3 are unproven transfers need some big time transfer strikers/wingers.
Yes, lots of hope pinned on Elli Lewis, the JUCO All-American transfer arriving this summer. I believe Coach Gore will pick up a forward from the transfer portal. He has been watching his two transfer forwards daily for a couple of months and has an idea of who can contribute.

Still talent to find in this portal for sure and feeling optimistic. Sounds like players visiting and a "big time" commit that they just haven't announced (wish they would just to help attract other transfers but assume there's a reason for the delay. Maybe they need to get acquire a throne for the photo op like other schools - sarcasm!) Often players need a little time to learn and warm up to Griz Soccer. They'll get some players before long. I do think Lewis is a dark horse for newcomer of the year in Big Sky and I'm excited to see what she can do.
In terms of positions, I would take the labels on the Griz roster page with a grain of salt. Example - Draper can play wing, outside back, mid... and Griz list her as mid. Ballesteros is listed as a forward on ECNL but mid for Griz. Frischknecht listed as mid/fwd for ECNL and listed by Griz as a defender. A lot of these players can play wing.) But a true striker would be great, for sure, and still think we do not want to go into next season without landing a CB and 3rd GKer. No reason to not bolster those positions - regardless of any 2027 backlog if that's where we end up.

Taija Anderson (former Griz forward #26) now an NAU Lumberjack

NAU seems to enjoy picking up former Griz players - Allie Larsen, Mollie Massmen are two off the top of my head
I heard NAU had a 22 player roster for Spring - so a good move for Anderson. They also picked up another forward, Elliott Kortus, from WSU in December portal
