Griz Rumor: to 1-A

Turd Ferguson said:
So you won't come to see the Griz play a top 25 Fresno or Boise team with home field advantage, a close competitive good game, but you will drive to see us play D-II games that are over before they start? I have to question if the people that say this stuff actually apreciate football. Bringing in a team from colorago that has 9 scholarships to WGS so we can essentially rape the shit out them because they are lower on the college football food-chain and we can make an easy dollar is not competition. I didn't enjoy that Fort lewis game at all. I don't know about you guys.

Face it Turd, it is never going to happen anyway. As much as you hate to hear it, msu is in the way and you saying some childish thing about it won't change the fact.

Turd,

Yes, I would go to WGS to see us play Fresno or Boise. But unlike now, I would probably prioritize which games that I would drive 2+ hours to go see. Instead of getting my money for both a Ft. Lewis and a Boise game, the U would only get it for the Boise one.

Before you slam me for being a fair weather fan, here is a situation that I was in this past season and will be again this next season:

My son started Little Guy Football last year in Kalispell. Being the good dad, I wanted one of us parents to always be at his games. So, my wife and I would switch off going to Griz games and my son's games. That way, we supported our son and, by always filling our season tickets together with friends, we supported the Griz. Given our prospects at I-A, both my wife and I would be more likely to see more of our son's Saturday games until he was old enough to play on Fridays.

Sometimes, it was difficult to fill our 7 season tickets depending on who we played. We had no problem on sell-out days, but other lower-tier games were hard to convince others to drive the 2+ hours.

If you think that people will consistently fill the stadium week-in week-out with a 6-5 record or worse, you are dreaming no matter what conference you are in.

As for a comment earlier about some students not coming to the Griz football games because they think that I-AA is a joke - you are out of flippin' mind. When I went to the U, the only reason we would not go to the game was if we could not get in...

Turd,

Look at your own numbers. I added the winning or losing season notes. Other that Lousiana Tech and Hawaii: attendence and athletic bugets are largely dependent on winning.

Nevada didn't have a losing season.

Nevada had a 9-3 season with a win over Central Florida in the Hawaii Bowl. A very exciting game 49-48 in OT.

That's impressive, you're a better fan than I. Not calling anybody out as not a true fan, just speaking generals.

I agree that winning equals fans, but I also think that TRUE fans will support our Griz no matter what. Even if Fresno is ranked 15 in the country and we're starting a redshirt freshman QB, they'll be there to cheer on our team and make a ruckuss when the opponent is on offense in the N-Zone. I'm not trying to start arguements, I just guess that everybody's personalities are different. Some prefer the big fish/small pond scenario, and some desire a challenge.

I think that when an 8-3 record is viewed as a disappointment and fans are calling for coordinators and coaches to be fired, perhaps we have worn out our welcome as a Big Sky and I-AA team. Even when fans were booing our offense every game though, we were still selling out our stadium.

I think you all know that I'd appreciate a real challenge for our program, but I realize that it won't come for several years. WHEN it happens, I will be there for every game, but until then....I'll be there for every game

>YAgree with you, Bud. I believe 40% of the UM fans are from >outside Missoula county. Like you and me, most are very loyal >and try to go to all or most of the games, and go out of their way to do so. Without consistent great seasons and the playoffs, and all of the gameday and weekend fun and excitement that UM's current success has created, I don't see the out of town fans, and even the Missoula fans, being as committed to coming to every game. Like you, I have kids in sports and other activities, and it's takes considerable commitment to figure out how and who can get to all the games. While I would be interested in seeing some I-A teams in Missoula, if the atmosphere and excitement dropped, which I think it would without the consistent wins and playoffs, I would not come to the games as much. In fact, I would probably end up dropping my season tickets, because of all of the other things I have to do and should be doing on weekends.

Fine, why not drop your tickets now? The griz have lost to the cats 3/4 last seasons. I sure as hell don't give money to the GSA when we lose to MSU. Do you? Oh I forgot, you either didn't graduate or didn't go to school at all. I make at least 10 times what you make in Montana, pay 2x taxes, private school, 10x mortgage, and I'm not a little bit<k a$$ mofo whining about what I should be doing on weekends instead of watching the GRIZ. Guess what? $$$ rules every thing around me. Learn what it takes to be a MAN. Living in Missoula is EASY compaired to a real city. Try something else besides bit<hng for once.

UM '00 Bit<h.

Missoula County? BWHAA HAA HAHA HAA!

Griz fans with money? In Montana? Pwned! :tounge:

Yeah, burn the Witch that started that rumor. As for going I-A :moon: . Get over your penis envy. At I-A we'd be a big P that will never shoot. . . ever. Not witht he current system. :deletepost:

This topic is beat like a big red d!*k. Unless I see something spill from an official at the U of M about going IA, praise be IAA. And if we go IA it better as hell be a playoff system by then. Get off IA's nuts people. :loser:

It's times like this (recent losses to MSU) that the University and the GSA needs our support more than ever.

Chi-town, why would losing to the Cats stop you from supporting the athletes?

If you are such a loyal Griz fan why would you pull your support at a time when the kids need it the most?

When you stop supporting the GSA who do you think it effects the most? I believe the future 18 year old athlete gets hurts the most.

You come on to this sight and state what a loyal Griz alum you are and how much enjoyment you get out of following the Griz. Then you brag about how much money you make in the big city, but you wont give back to the Griz that have given you so much. That is a shame. :twocents:

If we all haven't figured out by now that this Chi-town idiot is nothing but a bragging, little wimpy blow-hard, then we had all better search other pursuits. Somebody up there pull the plug on this nutcase. :plzdie:

Really care. With the extra seats, Wash Griz could HOLD 40,000. So sorry haters, what's your plan?

I'm on track to be El Presidente of UM by age 35. Very calculated. :finger: Smell ya.

Check UM pres. in 2016.
