Wow, first we don't announce stadium lights until after MSU announces their intentions, then MSU unveils a rebranded logo and new unis today and we suck hind tit on that too. Sad to say it but it appears that our trend setting days may be over. But hey, we have Mo, a retro 2001 stadium music playlist and the best damn virtual sandwich eating contest on the planet.:|

I heard on the radio today that the MSU rebranding will cost nearly $50K for facility changes to logos, including a deal with under armor for equipment, plus $18K they paid a design firm to come up with the new logo. The gist of heir deal was to get a new bobcat and a new "M" that was "less like Michigan and Missouri's "M." hmmmmm.

I say if they are just going to put an "M" on their crap, then the REAL MONTANA should sue for infringment of a valuable and recognized brand. They should be forced to have MSU on their logo, so ESPN and Root announcers will recognize them for the pussies they really are.

And and emphatic YES to whoever all pointed out our brand is fine, just get rid of Mo, upgrade Monte and get some new music and video entertainment. Its almost depressing to think it at the App St game, it will be the same tired old shit we had for the pst 10 years...

That would only work if the "M" wasn't tarnished, a valuable and recognized brand. ESPN and Root only recognize the pussies that they are currently in. :coffee:

It's stupid that they paid $18k to do that, when they have a top notch graphic design school, and a large pool of designers that could have done what that firm did...for free...idiots.

Need to hook-up my Ipod to the stadium sound system. Monte needs to get involved in the crowd! Videos must change. The music played when the team takes the field needs to change for sure. It also needs to be played louder before they come out of the tunnel...something that will get people pumped up. Pre-game sucks now!

When did they hire a new marketing director?

Some confusion. New marketing director is for University (see new website) not athletic department. Rebranding will be for University..."Thrive" Not logos for athletic department.

Every time they change uniforms it bring in huge dollars via the marketing at the book store and everywhere else in town. Most fans go out and buy new replicas jersey's at $35 apiece. It is huge revenue.

Oh, I agree! It's a huge revenue...for who?! What I have to wonder is why the University or athletic department would see or feel a need to add to the bookstore, Herberger's, Sears, Bob Wards, Zippidy Doo Dah, potential monetary gain with a new logo, color, style, etc., is beyond me. Get real, anything that is done at this point MUST generate funds for the football team, or bring in more $$ paying fans!

The Griz are getting new uniform combos this season. I heard there will be five different combos that could be worn between home and away unis. I believe the black and white pants will be kept, but new white road tops will be part of the new unis. As was leaked by the kid who didn't end up coming to the Griz. There are also several helmet combos, two different maroons, one white and one black. From what I've been told, one alternate helmet will be used for one home and one away game this season. There may be an alternate logo on the alternate helmet, but the peuter helmet with the maroon griz script isn't changing. Neither is the bear logo at midfield or the bear logo on the Dahlberg floor. So in regards to the logo, no rebranding.

The new marketing director will oversee the Stadium gameday experience. Expect to see a brand new pregame. It's long overdue.

Are you not aware that the university gets 12-15% of each logo licensed item sold?

Yup, the university, not necessarily the athletic department nor the football team.

I seem to remember a few years back that the special Halloween unis were paid for from the licensing royalties............duh
