Griz Rebranding?

How is getting new uniforms, something they do every year, not fiscally responsible? Just because the uniform is going to change and you dislike this?

And how would you explain that it is fiscally responsible? Because they're only replacing worn and torn uniforms? Yeah, right. I'm not ashamed to say that I do indeed dislike it; you're saying so what just as much as you yourself would favor it according to your own personal likes.

You make it sound like if the football team gets new uniforms then they are cheating other departments from getting new computers or something, which is not the case. The athletic department has a budget, and from that budget the football program has money to purchase uniforms. This has absolutely no bearing on what any other department gets or does not get. I could care less if the football team gets a new look uniform...maybe they will be purple with pink numbers and a Griz with a rose in his mouth on the side of the helmet...that is probably something to complain about.

Hahaha, so I pulled up FCS Football Fans facebook page and asked for a source.

Their first answer was egriz.com, I replied that a message board isn't the best place as a "source"

Their second answer was that it was an official release from the UM and Kent. I asked for a source or link.

They then deleted the thread. lol.

Oh and there's no release on gogriz.com

So... for now... it's false.

BFD. Uniform contracts pretty much determine when a team gets new uniforms and unless you're one of the big dogs you're going to get a new look based on the styles the company is offering. Any school, especially an FCS school that tells you new unis are part of some rebranding effort is full of bullshit.

Except it's not true in this case, the UM isn't rebranding, this was a rumor made up by a facebook fan page.

WyomingGrizFan is rebranding, He is tired of wearing his assortment of sun dresses, going business casual with the skirt and blazer look.

The Griz probably are ready for some uniform change, though aren't they BW? Didn't the current uniforms show up in 2010?

As one of the Admins on that page I hope this doesn't reflect on this page as whole. I did click the delete button about an hour and a half ago but thought that I had better not delete someone else's post. I should have done it anyways. Right after I started gettin notifications of comments and likes on it I opened it up and my jaw dropped. We're tryin to build the page, not start rumors. UgH. I looked for an hour on google, Bing, msn, you name it and couldn't find anything. Sorry for the confusion guys. :(

Maybe not so much other departments within the university structure but other sports within the athletic department. Granted, the association of considering different departments being short-changed while the football team goes scott free on their expenditures does, on appearance, seemingly, bespeak an erroneous accentuation. That I understand and accept. That can be held under review by certain NCAA investigation units as well. Not necessarily though with all other teams & sports within the athletic department. Just how much of the revenues that come in are proportionally allocated for recruiting for the football team?...for the men's basketball team?...for the women's basketball team?...other sports, etc. Sure does seem strange that with the attendance that the LG teams has year after year with their basketball teams that there's evidently not enough monies laying about to go and recruit players from Minnesota, Indiana, Hawaii, Arizona, etc., etc., etc., as an other Griz sports venue does. Certainly the athletic department receives revenue from all venues that, in turn, covers all recruiting for all sports, not just for football but all other sports as well. And the apparent disruption between the President's Office and the Athletic Department enhances the public perception of an animosity over the past year or so that bespeaks of an irresponsibilty upon fiscal matters that may very well be under investigation by responsible parties as well.

WyomingGrizFan, you do realize that the football department has a cycle for replacing uniforms, and I am pretty sure that they will have new uniforms for the upcoming season because they are at the end of a cycle. They replace uniforms on what I believe is a 3 year cycle, so in reality they are fiscally responsible when it comes to uniforms. So, it would not be an extraordinary expense to get newly designed uniforms. And all UM sports teams are on the same type of cycle for new uniforms. You are complaining about a none issue and something you clearly do not understand.

Wow, first we don't announce stadium lights until after MSU announces their intentions, then MSU unveils a rebranded logo and new unis today and we suck hind tit on that too. Sad to say it but it appears that our trend setting days may be over. But hey, we have Mo, a retro 2001 stadium music playlist and the best damn virtual sandwich eating contest on the planet.:|

I could really go for a virtual sandwich right now..............

You'd think that NFL teams that haven't changed their logos and/or uniforms, excepting throw-backs every now and then, during the past fifty or sixty years and have millions in revenue to do so, would have served as a better role model; at least to colleges that have a limited state authorized budget that seems to change their uniforms/logos every two or three years; or, in other words, at the drop of a hat. This, just to satisfiy personal whim?

Rebranding at the college level means local fans buy the new branding, and the schools get more money for those sales.

In the NFL, TV money pays the bills, and there is a national fanbase. No need to rebrand if you're an iconic NFL team like Oakland, Dallas, or San Francisco, or an iconic college team like Alabama, Ohio State, USC, or Notre Dame (goofy one-off uniform aside). Those colleges are flush in cash, and don't need to rebrand to raise revenue.

We do know that football deliveres the primary chunk of revenue that not only supports the other sports, but a lot of agendas outside the AD.

Why can't you stick to the subject matter of the Thread?

And you try to drown me out by saying of what I do not underestand?..upon a non-issue no less. Great. What a piece of enlightenment. As if you can carry on a conversation without going bonkers. Get a grip. If you can't deal with the subject matter topic per topic just butt the hell out and quite embarrassing yourself before everyone else.

I suppose tomorrow you'll be out beating the streets for a good price on Pressure Cookers.

not knowing anything I believe it is important to maintain your fundamental image that has been worked for through sweat and tears....large corporations protect brand at all costs....our cursive "griz" on the helmet is like the "N" on Nebraska.....as they say bought and paid for.....the "griz" is an icon, rebranding makes no sense at all......we are not that stupid.....imo..

Actually, UM is rebranding... but it's the University, not the athletic team ;)

Every time they change uniforms it bring in huge dollars via the marketing at the book store and everywhere else in town. Most fans go out and buy new replicas jersey's at $35 apiece. It is huge revenue.
