as an addendum to my last post, many of the comments on this thread are from folks who assured us all that bobby's record last year would be better than it was, often by a lot.

I think most people said it would take a couple years to get the oline figured out. Coach Hauck walked into 18 receivers on the roster and only 5 offensive lineman if I remember correctly. The Grizzlies have a lot of returning players and the staff has filled a lot of holes and added a lot of depth. Should be a fun year I hope your negative, whinny butt can enjoy it.

Close, when Hauck arrived there were 18 receivers on scholarship and only 5 O-lineman or so on scholarship. The actual count on O-line was higher due to walk ons.

These were the underclassmen on the team when Stitt was fired. Surely more than 5 of these were on scholarship. Obviously shortly thereafter Jackson & Stoner left the team, but it wasn't as if Stitt left the cupboard intentionally bare.

Dylan Eickmeyer
Thayne Jackson
Cody Meyer
Colton Keintz
Skylar Martin
Peyton Stoner
Angel Villanueva
Dallas Hart
Ashton Torres
Brandon Scott
Conlon Beaver

Generally pass blockers, not mobile run blockers like Mallory. Stitt had very different priorities; things like run-blocking, special teams and defense were not at the top.

True. But I'm pretty sure Eickmeyer (not sure on this one), Jackson, Stoner, Villanueva, Hart, Torres, Scott & Beaver were all scholarship players.

As usual your Bobby Hauck poster staring at you on the ceiling over your bed has yet again shielded you from reality.

Despite the fact that the 2017 team had UW, EWU and Weber on the schedule 2017 Stitt team and 2018 Hauck team stack up as follows:

2017- 2018
385 points for 317
319 Points against 314
455 Yards per Game 435
422 Yards against 417
16 Def. INT's 10
40 Sacks by 24
27:40 TOP 28:16
94% PAT's 91%
15-17 FG's 13-17
10 Fumbles Lost 13

Balls and strikes my friend.....again the schedules dont compare. Bobby brought in his hand picked JR QB. Impact plays(INT's and Sacks) on D as seen above were way down. the kicking game was worse . The defensive yardage and points allowed were about the same. TOP was about the same.

With that said 2018 had some firsts... I think. When was the last time a UM team lost 3 in a row? Even worse, when was the last time they lost 3 times at home in a season?

Lets be honest, most of those stats are a wash. Outside of points for and sacks, there's not a whole lot to quibble about. And I'm no fan of Baer...

I am just as amazed as you that Bobby couldn't turn the ship around in his first season after Stitt's tenure.

I see now your point. Special Team performance includes nothing but kicking. Got it. Not sure why the rest of us would think kick returns and coverage would be part of special teams. And that damned Baer robbed Stitt's coverage teams by extracting it's best player, Dante Olson, for his own use. Yes, Stitt's priority on special teams was truly special and easy to see.

Well we sure liked ‘em when they were signed...Many of their stories are yet to be written.

AZ is spot on here. Every recruit is an all-american on e-griz and it doesn't matter which coach recruits them. A very few are worthy of the accolades; most aren't; but I suppose it is fun to imagine.

That's like having 5 kickers and 2 running backs in fantasy football. Tough to win many games.

Extra credit for those of you who can name all five guys. I’ll get you started - my guys Dylan & Thatcher are on the right. It was Yo, these five guys and a suffocating defense that brought this championship home.
