We all got to experience the good of great secondary players for the past years and now we have 2 of the worst safeties we've ever had and I'm sorry but it's unrealistic to ask thousands of fans to watch the self implosion and smile and say, "o well"
Same can be said for our o line.

We all would love to beat everyone by 30 and trash talk the other teams but this team is special. The coaches, players, everyone feels it and nobody is giving up on the season.
Two more victories than 2012 with three games remaining. Life is much better than last year. This isn't the most impressive Griz team ever, but it is a good and unified team that plays hard to the end. We should be proud.

I'd still take JJ over any qb I've seen UM play this year. Smarter, fewer mistakes, great when game is on the line, great leader. The EWU qb may have bigger stats and may even be "better", but I'd rather have JJ on my team.

I think though there's a line that can be crossed. So lets say a player drops a few passes. Sure the fans in the stadium will groan, the player will catch hell on the sideline, and discussions will take place about it. But then there's coming on here and ripping the kid, using a public forum be it a message board or social media to vent and tear the guy apart.
No way can anyone just ignore the frustrations, I'm not saying that, because you're right sports is a mix of good and bad.
As for the comment on the safeties. The worst we've ever had? Come on. While they're not without issues both are playing significantly better than last year. Hermey is tackling very well, Tully has improved as well and he's forcing turnovers this year too. Coach Cookus has maybe been one of the best new additions to the coaching staff as he's helped these two guys both had real rough 2012 seasons turn the corner. We come from such a high expectation of safety play in years past, at times we need to realize that not every starting safety at the UM is the next Colt Anderson or Schann Schillenger.

That's the thing I think people tend to forget. We can't be 14-0 EVERY year...going to the Chipper EVERY year....last year was the first true "rebuilding" year in Griz history...well, at least since I was 24...

Many jizz fans are unable to cope with this reality and revert to neanderthal behavior. Other team's fans come here and poke you with a stick and enjoy the show. It's kind of heartless and lacks empathy but it is quite entertaining to witness the fall of a giant..especially when so many of the fans are entitled little dick bags. ..poke pokeoke:

Then low-and-behold... every week we see outstanding players pop up on the underbelly of the Big Sky Conference that just wow and amaze us! I've been a critic of Jordy's because of a lack of a big arm, but there's no denying his accuracy. We have our Uber-Hypers on this board that were promoting him as a legit Payton Award finalist. Well, I think we all see that I MIGHT be right when I say JJ is a decent quarterback, but he's been soundly out-played by the opposing QB in several games this season. I would have traded 9 out of the 11 Griz defenders straight up for their counterparts from Cal Poly... and a tenth, Coyle vs. that #41 Monster MLB for the Mustangs, was a push. I always want to believe we get the BEST out there to come to WaGriz, but as we've been witness to, that AIN'T happening anymore.

I had some long post written about how bad out safeties actually are but I guess to sum up my response would be name me a year where we had 2 worse starting safeties then these 2 in the last 20 years...
I don't want to derail your post as I agree but criticism of players is something they deserve if they don't live up to expectations that we as montana have. They get all the benefits of being grizzlies and with that comes living under a microscope.

This is a good example of unrealistic fan expectations IMO.Just because many great safeties have played for UM that doesn't mean that every recruited safety is automatically the next Colt Anderson or Tim Hauck. Interestingly, both of the current starters were "touted",at one time or another, as the next "great Griz safety". Go back and review some of the past E-Griz posts. Some on this board even suggested Hermanson was the next Griz NFL safety prospect. How can a player live up to some of those crazy expectations? It's the old "Over promise and under deliver phenomenon". If the player had under promised and over delivered, then all would be fine. They 'd have exceeded everyone's "expectations ". I think when you have a " rabid " fan base, like the Griz do, it can lead to these types of issues.
