Griz land Will Weyer

too hard to say at this point. big frame good arm. his stats at the gazette gps website aren't much, but he's only going into senior year and should get better. could be a great fit for our new pro style offense.

Weyer still threw for 1500 yards and 10TDs despite the injury interrupted season. That's pretty good.

As for switching to a pro-style offense, I would think the switch would be made as quickly as the team can adapt and not delayed because of Jordan Johnson. Johnson's a smart football player, coach's kid. If anyone on the roster is going to manage a transition like this, he'd be the best guy for the job.
This is a pretty young team on offense, if you want these students to be proficient at the pro-style offense by the time they're seniors, now's the time.

Honestly whatever works is what we should go with, but to be perfectly honest I don't like the switch.

As a Griz fan, I want us to win every game, and whatever offense we have that can accomplish that is great.

As a football fan, I was excited about Pflu's offense, I love watching the fast-tempo spread, and I thought this offense was moving in a great direction to be consistently one of the best in FCS. I also feel like this change is wasting JJ's skill set. Doesn't mean he'll be bad, but I don't know if he'll be as dominant as he could be.

If by "pro-style" they mean like what the 49ers run in the NFL, it would make me feel better, but if they mean like NDSU's offense, I think we're wasting an opportunity. If it were up to me, and this coaching staff can't run it, I'd go out and get someone who can. :twocents:

Talk amongst yourselves...

That quote really stood out to me as well.

Delaney seems to be hiring coaches with exposure to the pro-style, which if you think about it, is exactly opposite of what Pflugrad did. Pflu seemed to hire coaches he intended to teach his offense to.
Transitionwise, I think Delaney has the better approach.

I've also noticed not nearly the same backlash that Pflu had when he first started changing the offense.

Those same people who were saying "play to the strengths of the personnel you have" in 2010 seem to be saying the exact opposite now. :|

j.j. will be better running the pro than the spread. he was up n down in the spread all year passing the ball. he would run it well for awhile then go back to his old habits.

Congratulations to Will Weyer. He's certainly not a running QB per se, but he shows nice feet/elusiveness in the pocket...keeping plays alive and finding the open WR (ala Steelers Rothlisberger) He's tall, and has a nice arm. His best attribute is he is COOL under PRESSURE!

Bozeman wouldn't have made it to the state championship game this past season without him. And during the title game, I watched him lead his team from a 14 pt 4th qtr deficit to a 1 pt 4th qtr lead with just seconds on the clock after completing the 2-pt conversion pass in front of 8,000 raucous fans that are right on top of the field, like we are in Wa Griz. Yeah Bozeman didn't win in the end, but it wasn't because of Weyer...he's good. If he stays healthy in 2013, he'll put up more stats. But then again he loses an All State WR, and also Delaney as well at WR. I'm sure they will replace them though.

Weyer will enjoy taking snaps from his Griz brother, or having him at guard.

You can't blame a kid for wanting to play football with his brother. So, I'll blame his brother. Nice pick up for the griz.

first, welcome to griz nation will weyer.....second, I think this post is well thought out and makes sense,,,,is it possible to have a pro offense like the broncos run? hurry up, dink and dunk, then throw it deep...seems like we are going for the tall big framed qb, with big arms...just asking the question...manning will throw 35+ times a game....

Didn't show a lot as far as big time throws in that video but certainly looks like a big kid and sounds like a winner who is good under pressure. I'm sure the coaches have had him throw live in front of them and obviously liked what they saw with that size, looks like a good prospect.

I've had the pleasure of coaching both Ben and Will in track. I was worried that as soon as Ben went to the dark side that Will wouldn't be too far behind him.... And alas, my visions are coming true.

Regardless of what city they will be playing in, I just love to see great kids get opportunities like this. I just don't have enough good things to say about the Bozeman High recruits you've gotten over the last three years (Ben, Mick, and now Will). They're just all-around great people.

I'm a little bit more of a Griz fan (very, very little) because those guys will be wearing the maroon. And that's why I love football in Montana.

i think j.j. will excel in this prostyle offense, but it should a great battle between weyer and gusto in a couple years.

A return to bobbyball truly is the worst result from all the "investigations."

Griz coaches, including head coach, were in attendance at the title game.
