GRIZ/GONZAGA thread

Is every other Zag fan as proud of this win as you are?

Oh Geez Den, I don't even know every other Zag fan. I probably don't even know 10% of them. So I couldn't answer that question with guaranteed accuracy.

I just hope there aren't too many others out there like you.

We're proud of every win. We don't just pick and choose how proud to be of this win or that win. I was personally proud of how the "new" guys played. (daye, LG, sacre) And, yes, we will remain for the duration to contribute to this board in any way we can.

Well said CDA. Can't believe we get put down for being proud of our team.

I'd be impressed by Daye as well, his one on one game is phenomenal. Going into this game I was hoping that no matter the outcome, we'd schedule more games, maybe even one in Missoula. After that, I don't want to see Daye any more than what I saw on Sunday. I hope you guys can hold onto him for longer than two seasons. It'd be interesting to see what'd he'd do to other college players in his Jr and Sr seasons. Interesting note on Daye... did you know the reason he wears a shirt is because his dad called Few and told him to make him wear a shirt because he looks goofy on TV? swear to God. Not a knock on him, just kind of funny.

With that, it's fine being proud. But seriously, coming onto another board and touting a game you were supposed to win by 15+? That's a little low. Not a jab at you but there's a difference between contributing and being a dickhead.

Yeah, I think it's good to be proud too. I also think there is something inherently wrong with acting like a jerk unprovoked. GU was supposed to win the game. I think we came on here to speak about the matchup and got slammed with mushroom/Catholic/Spocompton comments. Furthermore, when Lou started saying that the ZAGS will win the game, he was met with people saying "shut up; you're a dick; etc."

Now that the game is over, we are trying to say, "hey look, we may have been right..." The same thing Griz fans would say to us if the Griz had won. And you are saying that's low?

No offense to you, man. But I think we have been pretty civil, all things considered.

EDIT: and that's hilarious about the t-shirt; seriously

Yeah, Daye has very skinny arms and legs, I guess growing six inches in a year would do that to any of us?
As far as being jerks on here: I don't remember you from the past few years, but a lot of others were bragging up the Griz last year when they made it to the tournament. I distinctly remember many Griz fans saying that they would wipe the floor with the Zags. It just made me laugh and I didn't know if I'd ever get a chance to get back at those people. Well it looks like I did this past game. I'm not trying to downgrade the Griz. I just hate when Griz fans get soooo cocky and start thinking they are better or as good as the Zags. Just a pet peeve of mine I guess. Sorry if I've offended you personally. Never was my intention.

Yeah, but there's a difference. Almost an unwritten code. When you're ranked 15th in the nation, playing a mid to low major team and you come onto their board saying "hey, we're going to beat you" the response is to think "no shit" and then say "fuck you." It's going to happen. And no one is going to be really impressed when that individual comes back and says "look I was right" because that prediction wasn't really too hard to make. Swilly may have been off in predicting that the score would've been closer but I believe a lot of Zag fans thought the same and he's not going after them.

Edit in response to Lou's last post... and if you bring last years team (from the end of last year) into Missoula, I think we'd have a close game.

HAHA. Oh Swilly....it seems like just yesterday you were incapable of completing a sentence. Now, you are making marginally funny comments in perfect English. It feels like I've watched you grow up before my very eyes. I guess it really does take a village....

That's fair enough if one of us actually did say "hey we're going to beat you." initially. All I remember was a post about the game being on the schedule and a topic about how the ZAGS were picked by one dude for the FF. Then, the UM ego floodgates opened......

we nearly drowned!

I'm just glad that Swilly finally got rid of his Lamar Odom picture that he thought was Kobe.
And I'm glad you decided to get rid of that stupid book in favor of a picture of a guy who may not play much this year because your coach decided to play him in an exhibition game despite the fact that his stress fracture hadn't recovered.

Your pic is awesome, Den! Ther must be like 600-700 students there. I was going to get your opinion on that:

The Zoo came back for one game, but do you think it is sustainable? I mean, it takes a LOT more commitment to be a diehard bball fan than it does to be a fball fan. (30 games vs. 11 games) What's more, is the fact that basketball is played on weeknights a lot of times; makes it harder for students and non-students to attend. I just remember when I was at school there and we had a similar push to bring back the Zoo. It was decent for one game and average for another. By the third home game, we were back to about 1500 total attendance.

Yeah you're right, that is a stupid book. It's about a small mid-major program and how it came from virtually nowhere and made its way into a big time bball program. I'm sure you'd be happier just staying a mid-major small time bball program that has no chance of ever making it t a final four. I would hate to have my only goal for the season to be MAKING it to the tournament and knowing that's all the farther I could go.

As for Heytvelt's foot, I think you got the wrong guy pegged by saying it was Few's fault. I don't think Few is a doctor. So he didn't examine Heytvelt's foot.

BTW: Be glad that Heytvelt didn't play against the Griz, could've been much worse!
