She's over but the cryin' fellas. 71-42 with 8 min left

young team, givem a couple weeks to figure out that strait has to touch the ball for them to get some open looks, they'll come around by conference play.

Thats why they scheduled it. The Griz are not the only ones who will get hammered in Spokane.

74-54 griz finally drop into a zone. Tinkle and his staff finally figured out after 38 minutes that they can't guard the flex offense. 77-54, zone doesn't work either Tinks. The GU youth had a good day.

Chalk that one up to nerves in the 1st half. I was actually impressed with the 2nd half performance. We do need to work on aggessiveness on the perimeter and working harder on the boards though. Matt Martin took charge the 2nd half and showed he belongs at this level. Qvale makes a huge difference as for interior defense. Many missed shots we normally make. Staudacher seemed tenative to fire on open looks. He passed up a few open 3's in turn for 1 dribble jumpers. His bread and butter is his perimeter shot. I hope he establishes trusting in what he does best. Also we lost focus on working the ball inside and working outside for open 3's or one on one matchups in the paint.

The GRIZ had no answer for Daye. I have a feeling very few teams will have an answer for that kid. He has NBA written all over him. NICE pick up Gonzaga. Enjoy him for 2 years. When he muscles up he will be in the big league! He has a chance of being the Durant of the WCC. :thumb: WOW, what a player!!!

Griz showed some signs of good play, but you could see the pure talent for GU play out today. The new kid they have #5 looks like the real deal and what can you say about Pargo! Man among boys out there, has the speed, ball handling skills, and maturity a teams needs at the point. Much stronger than Rundles for us. Qvale looked very good out there for a freshman, Griz need to make a better effort getting Strait in the ball game earlier. They like the three ball but if it is not there early it gives the opponent easy transition buckets.

Griz will be just fine come conference, broadcasters even liked our team too and felt they have a good core group. Tough early games only make us better in the long run.

Guess what, the Zags have better players at every position. Reading on here about Tinks not figuring it out makes me want to puke. These guys POUNDED North Carolina last year. What the hell did you expect. Honestly. :loser:

Well for what it is worth - I am Glad we schedule games like this!!! In the long run we will be better for it!!! We will grow, we will learn, we will get better because of games like this!!! Learn from this experience Griz!!!

I like this game also, it will be crucial for our conference games on the road and possibly NCAA tournament games. Place was rockin today as usual and we need to learn to get over the "wow" effect and just go out and play some ball. Im proud that we made alittle run before Cam's shoulder popped outta place.

Bring on the Lights..

They are great games to expose your weaknesses and then work on them. Also, the kids look forward to them and they provide another carrot for motivation.

Agreed

I am a bit worried about Rundles, I like the point guards without a pulse i.e. Virgil Mathews

Also, I see him gettin on players behind their backs a little, I could be wrong, hopefully it just seemed that way to me and is not actually what happened.

Just listened to the game today as opposed to being there like CSU, so maybe things were different today.

Why would you be worried about Cam? He has more talent than Virgil and is a great leader. Dude is only a sophmore and acts like he is the senior leader. One of the last people you gotta worry about on this team is Killa

Well, swill, I guess we'll just agree to disagree on that point. Doesn't matter though, since Virgil is gone. Time will tell on how great of leader he is. I don't know yet, you obviously feel you do. No biggie

the 6'10" new kid (Day or Dey) looked pretty good. He should be able to give the zags opponents plenty to worry about for the next few years!!!

That was last year einstein. GU has been running the flex since the early 70's and that's all the better Tinks and his staff prepare for it. According to a majority of the post on here prior to the game you were all talking about how the talent level isn't all that different and there might be another Gardner-Webb/Kentucky upset. GU's under class men played a majority of the game and Griz vetrans can't stop them. The griz went to 2 NCAA tournaments a few years ago and advanced to the next round. Last year Tinkle takes over a talented and tested team that had a lot of promise and high expectation. what happend? They barely finish over 500 and don't make the conference finals. Not impressive. He was handed a gift and it doesn't matter how much talent he brings in he won't get it done.

Tinks is alot better coach than most and will get the job done this season. He just lost to the 14th ranked team the country on the road in the second game of the season. Your pathetic.

If there's one thing worse than me, it's you, Joe. A home-team hater.

UM just pounded CSU. They came to the new Kennel, where GU has only lost one game ever mind you, and stayed within 25 points of maybe the most talented Zag team ever. Hardly time to be questioning the coach. Oh, and usually by the time GU is running the flex, the game has already been decided. Just so you know....
