If you could get Breske, why not take him? Veteran DC, knows what he's getting into. And you wouldn't have to play against him second to last game of the season.

If Bobby's defensive coordinator ran an all out blitz with our db's in man with their back to ball with no mid level coverage by the linebackers because they were blitzing, on a quarterback with questionable accuracy, on 3rd and 21 even once, do you think the defensive coordinator would have the chance to do it twice?

If Bobby thinks this guy can do it then he must have shown it somehow. Bobby isnt stupid and he has other more well known more experienced options I am sure. Most of all Bobby wants to win and he must think this guy can help do that.

Just my perception as I have no inside knowledge of Stitts modus operandi but it seemed he was nearly completely hands off with regard to defense. How could he let Semore do some of the things he did if he was involved in the D? I really dont think Bobby is that hands off and will be involved in everything to some degree.

I still like young ambitious coaches that have shown ability. These guys work their butt off to move up and achieve goals. They make for great coaches at our level and what better situation than to put them with a coach with significant HC experience?

I am well aware of that. My point was that young position coach does not necessarily mean he would not be a good defensive coordinator. My other point was that it is my opinion that being burned on 3rd and long by a run play due to poor call by DC would have likely been addressed by Hauck. It did not appear to be addressed by his predecessor. I am not naive and I certainly don't expect miracles just because Hauck is now the coach. I was just trying to put my spin on the fact that Arnett would not necessarily have the same learning curse as Semore based on many factors.

Agreed. Semore would definitely have been running to the M as soon as bus arrived back in Zootown.

You know they've tossed around ideas in San Diego. There's no way they didn't chat about it before Bobby came to interview. I agree that he's got something that Bobby must see in a position coach that could now move up the line to coordinator. Now, offer is there, he needs to decide.

Interesting - SDSU's website says that his wife if the former Emily Daniels who in prior years had been the recruiting assistant for SDSU football. I see that she no longer has that job but may be raising the family?? She would certainly understand what a busy job it is to be a coach.

Arnett seems pretty tied to his former coach and current boss Rocky Long. Fb scoop doesn't think he's going to break away. That's a reasonable assumption.

I think the Griz D has suffeted through the years with green defensive coordinators, not just Semore. It would be great to see a defense ranked in the top 20 consistently.
If UM is really the place everyone wants to coach in FCS, a top 20 defense should be expected.

I don’t Look if you can coach you can coach. Didn’t matter how young you are. Dave Doeren walked through the door everyone knew he was the best coach the griz ever saw. I like Breske and he was smart enough to give over much of the DC duties to a guy that was a grad assistant at USC.
