GRIZ/cat mens thread.......game 2

Cats are getting run out of the gym. Griz are too big, too fast, too strong, too deep.

Just heard the Cats are honoring their "Big Sky Champion" football team at the half of the next game. I though they were co-champs? They'll celebrate anything they can get over there.

In other news, poor Bobcats!

Griz win, 79-58.

Nice! If the Griz can roll conference foes on the road by 20+, I think it will have to help with seeding (if and/or when we make the dance).

WOW, what a great 2nd half for the GRIZ. Cherry was kept under control. Imagine how good the GRIZ can be with Jamar getting healthy, and Selvig playing like he did tonight.

What a night, GRIZ are again tied for 1st.......unbelievable ending. Weber State hits a 40 footer to win the game at the buzzer. WOW

I woke up early enough to catch the last 8 minutes - Just the right time to see the Bozeman crowd clear the stands. Awesome job, GRIZ

just got home. yuck. griz are good. especially shooting like they did tonight. we were simply outmatched.

Damn...The Cats are plenty good too, but honestly, I think the Griz have something going in basketball that will eventually receive significant national attention...They're going to make a lot of teams look bad before April...

Good crowd watched at Sluggers, the Griz game on one TV and the weebs/unc game on another. Huge roar erupted when weebs nailed the 3-ball to win it!! :thumb:

As for the Griz game, just sheer domination. The cats clawed back into the game with UM's "big three" on the bench, but other than that 5 minute span, the Griz were head and shoulders better. This is a team that's really playing well right now.

At the start of the year, I would have been pleased as punch if the Griz could scrape together one win on next week's road trip. But now, the way they're playing, I'll be disappointed if they don't get the sweep.

So let's see; time to take a quick inventory:

Lady Griz overcome 18 point deficit to beat the cats on the road. Check.

Griz annihilate cats by 21 on the road. Check.

unc loses. Check.

Yeah, I'd say it's another GREAT DAY TO BE A GRIZZLY!!!!!!!

It was a fun game to go to. I think most of the points were covered above. Griz came out shooting the lights out. It was great to see Selvig feeling it from outside. Jamar looked a step slow tonight. It will be nice to see him get his game legs back.

I sat right across from the students about five rows up. There is no comparison between their atmosphere and ours. We need the students back on the side. Maybe next year if the Griz can get to the tourney and make a run. Kudos to the cat fans, though, I had my 4-year-old with me and no one acted like a moron to us, students included. I hesitated taking my kid with me because of that, but glad I did. Probably helped that the Griz took care of business on the floor.

Oh, and take heart, sCat fans. Budinich (sp?) showed great touch tonight. Griz fans could soon be cursing his name in years to come. Either that or Tinkle just didn't have enough to really think we had to game plan for him. He was one of your only bright spots.

If Tinkle leads the Griz to the regular season conference championship he ought to get a raise. UM does a lousy job of retaining their best coaches in football and basketball. Tinkle will become a hot name in the following years.

He might, but I just don't see him leaving Missoula. I just get the sense that he loves it there and wants to stay. But I guess anyone would be crazy not to take a Stanford-like job if it opened up.

I agree that his Missoula roots might run a little deeper than past coaches that have used UM as a stepping stone, but nobody wants to feel like they're being taken for granted. A $500k/yr offer will really test a guy's loyalty.

Unfortunately, it'll probably be a reality we have to face, and likely sooner rather than later. If Tinks has some success in the tournament, he'll get a lot of looks. The worry I have is that he gets an offer from a Pepperdine or USD or USF, something that takes him close to Jos. I know he'd love to be able to see more of her and her games.

Maybe. But she's only there a few more years. Why take a job away from Missoula for maybe seeing your daughter play for a few years and then having to live in an area you wouldn't like as much? If Tinkle can build the interest in this program to near sellout levels night after night I think we will have another long-term coach a la Selvig. (I'm admittedly hopeful, yes.)

That would be awesome. I really think he's building something terrific here.
