Griz at Western Illinois Predictions

Typical game where the fans (including myself) are hoping not to see the "Road Griz". Based on the past two games, there is the worry about the team not being able to pull this one off if they cannot play a full 4 quarters of solid football. I expect this to be a close game like the rest of us, with the defense doing enough to keep the game close & once again relying on Sneeds legs to keep drives going.

GRIZ - 27

Western Illinois - 24

‘Necks at home.....hmmmm

Got a decent chance of getting this one IF....we play a full quality game, find some way to generate enough ground game to establish passing when we need it.

Griz 21. Them 17

I watched the WIU vs Illinois game this week. I was not impressed with either team as a whole. Illinois is not expected to win a Big Ten game this year and I can see why. They were sloppy and not cohesive. They won this game just on talent alone not football efficiency. Illinois started getting some space and using speed and strength to just out talent WIU. WIU made silly mistakes. Nobody even touched the defender on the blocked punt. Mcguire is a good player but makes some risky throws. Some times they are "wow what a throw" some times they are "what was he trying to do". Their run game had like 60 yards on Ill. They didn't have much blocking and 40 of those yards came from their speedy WR. They have a linebacker..Moon... He was good. He was in on a ton of plays and he is one I would look out for. Their punter is good. averaged 45 yards i think on 5 punts. Illinois ran all over WIU. They threw to open up the run and once it was open it was ugly. 240 yards on the ground, about 30 of those were from the backup freshman QB that played after the starter went down early.

Overall WIU from their first 2 games look like a physical and talented football team that has some major weaknesses. Similar to us to be honest. Their O line gave up only 3 sacks but 7 TFL vs Ill but 4 sacks and 9TFL vs MSU. They have play makers but they are inconsistent. The QB is good but has 4 Ints this year. Their Special Teams coverage is hit or miss. Their Special team return is pretty good. Overall, this WIU team could be very good if they can fix the stupid errors. They have talent but are missing some key pieces. We are very similar teams but we have been better at not making big mistakes and capitalizing on others. After watching WIU twice...We either win by 2 scores or they win by 2 scores. I don't see this being a final series type of game. From watching the games, I think we are more complete team than they are. But our OLINE is so bad so far that it could just kill us at some point.

I signed up for ESPN+ for the free 7 day trial on 9/12. I tried to log in today to make sure it was activated but it wouldn’t let me in even though it showed i was active. Any suggestions?

Ihad a lot of trouble similar to that. Finally shut computer down and went back in and it worked. Fingers crossed it will tomorrow

With much todo i finally got on. They do show Griz vs Western Illinois at 2:00 pm. Hopefully it will work tomorrow too.
This will be a very challenging game for the Griz and hopefully the old master BH can pull this one out. It would be great going into conference at 3-0. With this start i think we have a chance of going 8-3 and a home playoff game. I might have to delay my winter vacation in Arizona for a few weeks which wouldn’t bother one bit. GO GRIZ-FIGHT ON

Good luck Montana! Don't want to take away from this game , I came across a article in the Moscow pullman daily news dated wednesday the 12th about the vandals targeting recievers and trying to beat teams up. Am stupid and don't know how to make a link, but you all could find it and read it yourselves and see what you think. anyway good luck! go Eags protect the red!

...ring their friggin' leatherneck...
...they can't win if they can't score...
...the bloddy griz kick their ass 28..10...

... 8-) ...

Young Griz team (more FRESHMAN startimg than Seniors)...

1st home game for a team that protects it's home turf...

Griz have sucked on the road in recent memory... (although I like this teams, under Hauck, vibe)...

WIU has some talented kids... speed and strength...

The Griz line run blocking is going to be the death of me...

Won't be surprised either way the game turns out.

Predicting a Griz victory, of course.
