Griz at Western Illinois Predictions

27-24 Griz. The Griz will get Jeremy Calhoun back this week and he is a Senior and an up grade from Adam Eastman. I don't look for much of a running game outside of Sneed but the Montana receivers will be tough for Western Illinois to keep track of. I too watched the game against the Cats and I believe the Griz have a lot more speed to the outside to contain those small running backs. I like their chances to really pressure their quarterback too. They have a fairly inexperienced offensive line unlike the UNI group the Griz just defeated. Western Illinois is coming off two physical road games in a row and that could help as well.
His name is Eastwood, not Eastman.

Griz have struggled on the road for several years; hard to turn that around with a young team. Lack of a run game catches up to them with the defense on the field too long. WIU 27-19.

Internal motivation kicks in on the road for this young GRIZ team! GRIZ make a statement! RTD
is in full swing and the cats suck! 34-14 GRIZ win!

I like our odds and for the first time in a long time I feel like we have a scrappy defense that will keep us in any game.
Hopefully with JC back we can get a ground game rolling.
I like the direction we are heading but we still have some work to do.

Gonna be a tough one

27-20 Griz with a HARD fought road win
Go GRIZ

I think we have a shot, if we don't turn the ball over. To me, after watching WIU against the Cats, and seeing how badly they were beaten-down by a poor Illinois squad, I would rank this game as a "pick it". Either way, I think it will be a very close game.

And Illinois lost their QB in the first Quarter

Oh, didn't know that. We have a shot in this game. Limiting turnovers and penalties will be critical.

Jeremy Calhoun will break out in the 2nd half and Griz will win 29-17. JLM will return a punt for a TD as well.

Griz 31
Leathers 21

We have a defense
The Oline can and will pass block...
The 'Necks will get their yards and own the clock.
Griz will make them turn over the ball

I thought Calhoun was suspended for 3 games? Even if he is available I do not expect to see him play. Bobby made it clear he has to earn his way back to playing time.

Preseason I picked this one as a loss for the Griz, with it being a road game against a more mature and tested WIU squad. But I'm gonna change my pick because in spite of what has been an ugly running game so far this year, I still think we're the better team.

A couple of weeks ago the Cats' Troy Andersen (a mobile "quarterback") and Tristan Bailey (an accurate kicker with above-average range) basically beat WIU by themselves, and so far we know that the Griz have those two areas covered by Sneed and Semenza. But we also have an immensely talented receiving group and a relentless defense that just produced 5 turnovers and 7 sacks.

I think it will be close, but I think the Griz move to 3-0 (and move a bit closer to the top 10) with a close win over the Leathernecks. Veteran leadership puts us over the top on the road as Curran tops 100 yards receiving, Alijah Lee scores twice, Semenza kicks 3 FGs, and Josh Buss earns conference Player of the Week honors with 12 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 FF, and an INT.

Leathernecks 25
Grizzlies 30

Griz 17, WIU, 14. Defense loads up on the run and does just enough, while our safeties and cb's keep their passing game in check. Offense does just enough, eeking out a typical "Bobby-Ball" road-w. Ugly for most of the time, but an ugly win instead of a pretty loss.

Damn this is going to be one of those games where everyone remembers every #hauck game ended in a heart attack suspenseful ending  #GoGriz #F-Haters #RTD and #FTC :thumb:
