Well, if you ever find yourself in HB, #1 let me know because I’ll buy you the best fish taco you’ve ever had, and #2 stay on the north side of the pier if you’re surfing before 7am. It’s a pretty good break. The dudes on the south side can get territorial about the big lefts if they sense you’re not local. It’s kinda all we care about politically here.
My first attempt at surfing was at HB just north of the pier; back in the long board days; I can claim little success. It only looks easy.

Same.
My daughters make me look foolish out there, but it’s still fun. Bucket list item for me is to surf, snowboard, and play 9 holes with them in the same day. Problem is, you have to wait until the days get longer in the spring to be able to get the golf in, and by that time, the snow sucks. Someday.

Can you ski on Baldy these days?

So in your eyes I’m a political nut job if I don’t agree with the political slant of Seattleites?

No. You — or anyone, right or left — is a nut job if they dislike an area because of its politics.

Here’s a list of a few places I LOVE in the US. See if you can find a common denominator:

Seattle, Tennessee, Texas Hill Country, San Diego, NYC, North Carolina, Hawaii, Montana, Phoenix (Nov-March), Calif Wine Country, Boise, Austin, Greenville, SC.

Find the common denominator yet? It’s this: I love places because of the place and what it offers, not how people vote. Because if I did that, I’d be a political nutjob

I love San Diego, LA, most of the west coast, etc., etc. But I can’t stand what the POLITICS have done to those places. Seattle I don’t love. Because of the weather, the people are nasty & depressed, the traffic is horrendous AND their politics suck—especially King County. But other than that, yeah, great place.

So you would have us believe that everything is cool in Seattle?

Yes I would. Does Seattle have problems? Of course. What place/town/city/state/country doesn’t? That said, I’ll take Seattle’s problems over those in 99.95% of the world, including many places in Montana.

Look, if you dislike a place because of the political viewpoints of .001% of a populace, the issue is with you, not the location.

Wow, the shit that brings me out of the woodwork on eGriz.
I dunno when the last time some of you have been to Seattle, but it’s been at least five years that yes, if you wanna eat at a popular spot, you’d better plan well in advance. Meaning weeks for some places, and that’s got nothing to do with the pandemic, but rather something like 1,000 people per week moving here per week prior to the pandemic. Might me trending the other way now. It’s got some problems that cities have, but there’s literally no neighborhood in the city that I wouldn’t walk through with my 11yr old daughter. We got homeless you bet. I run through one encampment around Green Lake several times each week. Talking to some folks it’s pretty clear that they’re poor people just trying to live. Kinda like my great great+ grandparents who were dirt farmers and railroad workers in Musselshell County about 100+ yrs ago. Yeah, it really sucks in Seattle. You should probably stay home. You’ll hate your visit.
Jesus, some of you should be ashamed of yourselves for your whining. You sound like the people who visit Montana and bitch about the cold. Or the lack of fancy coffee. Or how there’s some vagrant near their part time residence, and why can’t we lock this gate to the lake and keep these people out?
Jesus, put on your big boy pants and learn to make a reservation at a restaurant, don’t walk around like you own the joint or that anybody owes you a favor for visiting. It’s a big city dealing with incredible growth in a very short period of time. Don’t like it? Don’t visit. That’ll leave one more seat at a struggling restaurant for me and my family. God knows we’ve waited patiently long enough to hope to safely re-emerge to patronize those places again.
Christ. You guys. Pathetic. Talk some fucking football, will ya? That’s what I come here to lurk and read. Not your bellyaching.

Yes. God forbid someone else have a different opinion or experience of a place. I’ve never seen residents of ANYWHERE get vitriolic so quickly in defense of their city. That, alone, tells you something about the mindset of the populace….

I find the whole discussion hilarious. There are parts of the country/cities I dislike and parts I love. Doesn’t make me right or wrong, or you right or wrong (or Everett)….

It would be pretty rocky these days, but it’s open for business in the winter as far as I know. We spend a lot of time in Arrowhead in the winter, so usually snow valley or one of the two in big bear.

Oh, there are reasons not to like the PNW, weather and traffic at the top of the list, and anyone who knows me knows I Bitch constantly about those.

But that was never the reason given for why seattle is a “shitshow”. The reason given was that it’s overrun by antifa which is not only complete absolute bullshit, but is also completely political, and therefore spouted by a nutjob. Here was the original post (not by you):

Once you get past the Antifa clowns, all should be good! What a shit show Seattle has become.

No encampment of homelessness could keep me from hitting Toshi's Teriyaki at Greenlake. Been going there since my days at UDUB.

Fair enough. For Seattle, there’s enough reasons to dislike it, the politics of the region are simply the icing on the cake.

Word from friend in Seattle today who spoke with UW says bring your vaccine cards (required for admission) and masks (apparently required indoors in WA now).

Masks have been required indoors in Washington since Monday. No official word on vax requirements at husky stadium, but consider it a forgone conclusion. If you’re planning on coming for the game and you ain’t vaxed, better make plans either for a test, or plan to wear your mask inside a sports bar watching on TV.

I’m going out on a limb saying that I think there may be a few confrontations at the gate.

If that mangy mutt mascot Dubs II isn’t wearing a mask, than either am I.

Are you kidding? Those libs in western WA are compliant, rule following Karens. The confrontations might happen if some Montana farmer tries to get in without a mask….

I wouldn’t expect that there will be any serous confrontations no matter what state anyone is from. I’ve seen security at UDub games. Confrontations tend to be, uh, short-lived.

What I would expect, however, is that there may well be some people who pay $45 to park in order to walk 10 blocks to a game they won’t watch.

Kinda what I was thinking on the second part. And I don’t mean physical, just a lot of bitching. Maybe a pissing match or two…
