GRIZ at eastern Gameday thread

Was definitely a catchable ball. We were one better grip from winning. Even with Brown going backwards and almost getting sacked. I think we would of won with Humphrey. His legs saved us a few times. Brown definitely has the higher ceiling, he's just learning. This is the best Humphrey we get. If his throwing was better he'd be a baller. But, his passing is suspect. I close my eyes every time. The play calling was vanilla af too though. How many 1st downs were a f###[#] run up the middle for 0-2 yards... Jesus. Our offensive playback must have been lost in a fire. If Brown was thrown in earlier and got comfortable first, that would have helped. Not ideal to start at the end of a game on the last couple plays when it's all on the line. He hasn't been in that situation. He did the best he could do with that little of time.

Agree! I do think, no matter what, you throw the ball to Akem in the end zone though!

Ok, I'm probably going to make some controversial posts...

And, I'm going to blame it on the Griz loss and the 18+ Diet Cokes I've had so far...

BUT, I'd much rather have lost the game to Washington and won this game.

I'm going to drink some more diet cokes and probably come back with some more zingers....

AGREE

Tough loss! Came down to the wire and the Griz could have rolled over but didn't. Lot's to take away from the game but the season is long and you'll be fine!

Totally reasonable rundown. Only one week a year that you’re a twat. Thanks for being decent.

Say what you will, but EWU was the better team tonight.

No EWU had a much, much, better QB. With a really good QB, we win by a couple of scores. Cam is a fighter but he plays not to lose. He is not a QB that frightens defenses.

Seems the QB is part of the team, and a very good QB could make you the better team.

Very frustrating way to lose.

O-Line played awful for the 2nd straight week.

Cam gives the ball away on 2 consecutive terrible throws that lead to 10 points.

Lose some of our biggest contributors.

Fucking hell.

He was on the other side of the field.

Well lots to think about. Some odd calls on 1st down. Play book seemed vanilla.
OL let us down. Defense went lights out in stretches but got gashed numerous times.
Good opening drive in 2nd half and then dog shit. Don’t want to rag on Cam but he is what he is
Good Cam then bad Cam. Offense only going as far as he does. Sad to see him get hurt.
Looks like we will see what Brown brings for probably at least the next game.

Well we know one thing at this point. This is not a championship caliber team. We’re still a player or two away. Which is fine. What’s unfortunate is that this is a championship caliber defense. Just don’t have all the pieces. Need a running back and a QB, and maybe one more linemen.

Harris is fine, the only bright spot on our offense. He's just not a "run up the middle every first down" type of rb. I've never been a fan of Humphreys. He cost us the game and almost won it. Lmao. Negate those 2 picks and we easily had this game. If he didn't get hurt, I think he would have won it for us. It was some of the better playing they did all game.

Look at the passing stats against probably the worst passing defense in the conference and tell us we will be ok. Our offense is awful

Keeping the streak alive, every team that has beaten a ranked FBS team has dropped one to an FCS team later in the year.

They didn't want Dixie State to get good film.

Ha! Mission accomplished.
Terrible injury for Cam. Glad it was not a concussion as it first looked as he lay so still afterwards. Either injury keeps him off field for a while - but a concussion would be troublesome far longer for him in all aspects of life.

WR Jones, a known deep threat, time and again gets behind the DB's and SAFETIES.
First down efficiency just horrible. The long FG attempt made little sense.

OLine is blowing open holes that anyone can run through. We have some issues. No electricity at all. Need play makers.

Im a younger guy, and let my emotions get the best of me sometimes. Wanted this one real bad for the guys on the team. Watched the last 3 minutes from bed when we only gave up a FG after that pick.

Cam really did work in that 2 minute drill, 38 seconds and a timeout left, I honestly think he would have put 6 up for us. Feel awful for him, not sure how he hurt his knee so bad, didn’t look like it got twisted on that monster hit he took.

Offensive line just flat didn’t get it done tonight. Also caught myself wishing Knight was back in there quite a few times. Don’t get me wrong, Harris looked really good at times, I think he’ll be a damn good back for us- Marcus just seems a bit more decisive on runs up the middle. It will be huge having them both back and healthy.

I am a huge Hawkeyes fan, and have gotten used to watching defensive excellence- I didn’t see that from the Griz last night. Can’t give up 400+ passing yards and expect to win….yet we were right there with a shot to win it in regulation.

As an Iowa fan, I know all too well the thoughts of clamoring for the backup to come in and be a savior. Tough position to be put in for Brown without a doubt. I think Cam won the starting job out of camp for a reason, but am hoping Brown can come in and get the job done while Cam is hurt.

Can’t let an injury to QB1 derail the season. My hope is that Germer lights a fire under the O-line and gets them to play to their potential the rest of the way. The defense looks much better when we are winning the TOP, to do that we absolutely must win up front and control the game.

Last thought- way too many missed tackles and not enough folks swarming to the ball carrier. Eags YAC was a back breaker. This didn’t look like the same defense that impressed the heck out of me in Seattle (I do believe ewoo is significantly better than the dogs offense to be fair).

Watch the tape and then flush it, way too much season left to let one game define it.

Go Griz

Thanks for the best laugh I’ve had in quite a while, Germer has been the line coach for what 8 years now, O-Line will never be any better than it is. Think about it, mostly full of JUCO transfers and FBS drop downs… why? Cause Germer can’t develop young players. The room is toxic and the players have no respect for him.
He simply doesn’t have the emotional capacity to care about his players, in return they will never give the discretionary effort required to be a ‘great line’ .

Have not heard that take.
