Griz played another good game beating a Hornet team, or should I say, individuals, who played a lot of one on one. I say team play wins out, and it did.

Good job Griz.

If there was one thing bad I can say about the Griz is the freethrow shooting. Shot 63.4% from the line. At least they shot better in the second half hitting on 72.7% from the line. First half, they shot 52.6% on 10 - 19 freethrows.

Lamar Farr had his best game as a Griz scoring 8 points. I do believe it was his highest scoring night, but what was important was when he scored them. He provided a huge lift both offensively and defensively.

Leading scorers for the Griz:

Matt Dlouhy 16 points on 5 - 11 fg, 2 - 5 3pt, and 4 - 6 ft. Also, had 5 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal.

Matt Martin, 13 points on 4 - 6 fg, 3 - 5 3pt, and 2 - 2 ft. His minutes were cut short due to having problems defending one of Sac States guards. He had 2 early fouls in first half, and picked one up early in second half. A ball rolled off his leg, crossed the center line, Matt followed it letting it go while Krysko was yelling for him to pick it up. Eventually a Sac St player attempted to take it but hit it out of bounds which saved Matt from letting a Sac State player take it and scoring it. Krysko will be talking to him about this sometime soon.

Andrew Strait had another strong game with 13 points on 4 - 6 from the field, 5 - 8 from the freethrow line, and 4 rebounds.

Kevin Criswell scored 10 points on 3 - 6 from the field, and 4 - 6 from the freethrow line.

Kamarr Davis had 9 points on 4 - 9 from the field, 1 - 3 from freethrow line, and 5 rebounds.

For Sac State, Jason Harris scored 26 points. One hot dude from the field. 11 - 17 shooting.

Griz scored 29 points off of Sac State turnovers to Sac states 13 points.

Lamarr gave the GRIZ a big boost in the second half. Mick H interviewed him after the game and he seemed like a soft spoken guy who articulates the GRIZ stress on team play quite well. Coach K mentioned both Lamarr and Virgil as players who gave the GRIZ a big boost in energy. I thought things really turned around in the first half when Virgil came in the game for Lynch. He really sparked the GRIZ with his passing and defense. The offense certainly got on track and stayed on track after Virgil came in. Kamarr looked a little rusty by still had 9 points and 5 rebounds. He also gave the GRIZ some extra defensive toughness inside. It seemed like he played the final 14 or 15 minutes of the second half and sure looked to be in good shape. It is great to have him back. This GRIZ team is pretty deep now.

The Griz will be going on the road next week. Will face EWU and PSU.

Both EWU and PSU lost today on the road.

MSU has taken further command of first place by wiping out NAU 88 - 68. Clearly they are the frontrunners.

:o :o True Griz : MATT MARTIN had been called for over and back earlier in the game when it was not and I think MATT had the situation all figured out the second time. If he picks up the ball it is over and back and if it rolls out it may be off PSU but the PSU player took the pressure off of everbody by going for the ball and Montana got a break. Coach will not have to discuss it too long as it turned out. Matt does provide Coach with a lot of learning situations that require lots of discussion. I think MATT is teaching Coach a lot more than he expected this early in their careers. :o :o

The Sac State (not PSU) player bailed out Matt.

If the ball was off Matt and it rolled all the way out of bounds, it would have been Sac State's underneath their own basket. If Matt picked it up sooner and be called for over and back, the ball would have been Sac State's but played in at the side near the bench.

Now if the ball was off a Sac State player, then Matt could have picked it up immediately and brought it back over. No over and back penalty would be called because a Sac State player touched it.

:o :o True Griz you are correct on all counts. And I do feel a little stupied about mixing PSU with SAC. Griz and Matt did get a major break. There was some disagreement between the bench and the official on the earlier over and back and that may have contributed to Matts indecision. Good point about where the ball would be put into play. :o :o

he knew what he was doin all along. He saw the Sac state guy coming and decided that he would see if he touched it before it went out. He would have picked it up before it hit the endline, he knows the game

I tried to say that above but I was not sure that I believed it. That is why I like to watch his game because he has enough confidence that he appears to have a handle on things even when he does not. He had some tough situations early this year but he just keeps hummin like the energizer bunny. Not bad using just an ankle an one half for now.
