The main thing that struck me was how suspect MSU's offense was. The Irish Lad played another great game. Yet Kirk seemed to be hurt early on and their ground game was rarely effective. McGhee's ability to keep Stony Brook's defense off balance kept the cats in it. He, and their D, deserved the game ball.
The cat's defense had few lapses containing two very good backs. Though last year vs Sam Houston they just looked silly trying to contain Flanders and company. Reminded me of when we played Geo. So. back in 1989 (automatic 20 yard gains). I don't expect the same this time, but the coach better have learned.
So was SHSU just that much better at game planning than Stony Brook, or is the MSU defense a better disciplined unit this year? It should be an interesting game. Though the cat offense has to get cooking. If Sam Houston controls the clock it could be a repeat of last year disaster.
