Good Bad Ugly - USD

The good - passing game and receivers

The bad - Eastwood’s fumble and recovery. What’s with him and ball security at crucial points in the game?!

The ugly - talking about the kitties in the game thread.....you know who you are

Honorable mention good - knight looks like the real deal

Honorable mention bad - running game...needs improvement

Honorable mention ugly - playerrep

You had to edit twice to make a weak and worthless post like that? You may want to go back to the minor leagues to work on your posting skills for awhile.

Had to make sure it was grammatically correct, just for you ;) you need to chill bud.

I don’t comment on grammar.

Good - Looked like lots of Griz fans in the stands. Way to represent Griz Nation.

Ugly - Camera angle showing empty side of stadium. Kind of creepy looking, more like a practice than a game.

Good: Griz win on the road.

Bad: Not one UM student recruitment add on the TV broadcast.

Ugly: Numerous MSU student recruitment adds on the TV broadcast.

2 best things I saw is when the running game wasn’t working the Griz changed to what would work - took what the d gave them. Nobody can complain about Hauck being stubborn in the game plan

2nd thing is the way the Griz came out of the 1/2. Coaches earned that win. SDSU has some good weapons and defense.

Your first point is what has been sticking with me. No griping now about Bobby ball on O. Maybe he trusts the two former NFL QBs on staff more than he trusted Coach Phenicie to craft adjustments, but beginning with 2nd Quarter, the O figured it out and exploited looks they did not expect.

Speaking of Bobby ball, Eastwood is a quality player but not flashy. Glad he is here to contribute. Once the OL settles in, all will be happy to have a solid straight-ahead pounder like him. It seems Knight will probably get more carries, as long as he holds on to the ball, but Eastwood will definitely make the O better.

Solid win.

I saw several UM ads while watching in Helena.

Eastwood, while I don't think he is awful, I don't think he was better than Calhoun or Lee last year and I don't think he is better than Knight this year, he is a solid but not great straight ahead runner, good pass blocker and has great hands out of the backfield. Despite all the positives I'm not sure why Hauck force feeds this kid the ball or why he is so dead set on him as the starter, I don't think he is that good.

It is just the first game and SD was overly committed to stopping the run so it's hard to put all that on Eastwood, I'm willing to give it another few games and see what he can do.

In post-game, Hauck said they got a few looks that surprised them and they hadn't prepared for at all. I'm just expanding on what the above post alluded to.

One small point. Eastwood needs to hold onto the ball too.

Yes there were some ads for UM, but still annoying that MSU gets to capitalize on Griz games by throwing their ads in as well. There should be a disclaimer statement after each MSU
ad that says, “WARNING! MSU is NOT the University of Montana - may represent a poor life choice”

This! We need to get the Surgeon General on this.

Lots to like in this game obviously, but frankly I'm shocked that anybody thought the OL looked good. To me, it seemed like Sneed and the passing game succeeded in spite of the offensive line, not because of it. The deficiencies in the run game are obvious, but on passing downs Sneed was consistently flushed out of the pocket and turned many close call sacks into positive yardage. Anything outside of a 3-step drop quick hitch route and Sneed was getting harassed. I worry that without a run game, this quick passing game is unsustainable.

My second worry is once again we see little to no 2nd half adjustments by the DC. We seem to struggle to get any pressure on the QB unless we blitz, which leaves our talented LBs out of position far too often and exposes the holes in our secondary. We're going to need to be able to dial up pressure from the edges eventually if we want to be a team than can make some noise in the playoffs.

Some good points here. In my first post I said the Oline gave Sneed “some time”. But as you say, it wasn’t “All Day”. Or even “Lots of Time”. They look better than last year, but still not run blocking too well. And Eastwood pussyfoots around and never seems to be moving very fast. I I like the D backfield. And I liked the work from
Gubner.

Not according to played the game playerrep, who has it on good authority from his myriad inside sources that Eastwood is by any measure a very fast runner with impeccable ball security and great blocking skills

One guy had 47 yards on 7 carries. 6.7 ypc
One guy had 15 yards on 8 carries, 1.8 ypc and a fumble he was damned lucky to recover.

Each had a really bad drop out of the backfield that would have extended drives.

Small sample set, but I know which one I like.

Over all I think that the fact they exploited the weaknesses of USD with that amazing pass game speaks for it self yes the run game wasn’t there but that’s why they did what they did. Sneed is amazing asset. Among many others can’t wait for the coming weeks!

egriz, I am sorry for my poor grammatical use of the plural version of some of the words that were used in my earlier post. I would hope that my apology would, perhaps, help you to look beyond the grammatical errors and see the intended context of the feelings that, as a human, I possess. I do realize that, while my opinion is subjective, that my errors in grammar might make my opinions become misconstrued. But, I would pray that they might be taken in the spirit of a true University of Montana Grizzly Football fan and, as such, you would not hold it against me in the future. I have never played the game and I am misleading and wrong.

That's a good start. I'll take it to the committee for further consideration.

How about this....F U, and all of your (who the eff let this guy decide he could judge anything) committee kiss my opinion. I didn't realize that as an alum, I was not allowed to have an opinion that was not in line with whoever the eff playerrep is. If you are the grammar police of the website, I would have loved to have known that in the TOU. I didn't see that and my bad for not seeing it.

PlayerRep, thank you for making this a site that is open and welcome to all.

Are you okay, or do. you need mental health assistance?

See Kem’s post above. Same view as I had.

So according to PlayerRep it must be a committee of 2, as long as Kem agrees with PR that is!

For all the hand wringing over our running game, remember USD only had 106 yards for the entire game themselves.

The discussion has not been which one you or anyone likes. The discussion has been whether Eastwood is D-I back.

I spotted Knight and have been a proponent of him on egriz about as long as anyone. I have also been the poster who has touted Knight more than any other poster. That, however, does not mean that Eastwood is not a D-I back or good player.

Please pay attention.

Do you think the Griz threw multiple picks in the EZ and missed multiple FG's yesterday?

Kem is a very good poster, knows the game, and played for the Griz. What are your credentials? I think he is also a PhD.
