Yes. Seemed very obvious and blatant in real time. Myself and everyone around us cringed before the ref could even wind up his throwing arm.

None of that changes the fact that our O-line could not block for the running game, and this going to be a big problem going forward. We will play other teams with solid defenses, and we need to be able to run the ball. Bottom line.....Excuses don't cut it. Performance does.
Agreed, PERFORMANCE is THEY WON! It seems like some of the posters on here are the ones making EXCUSES "sure the Griz won, but, but, but, what about, this that and the other."
It IS about who recruited the O-line! You play the cards you are dealt but we'd all love to be holding pocket bullets and not Seven-Duece off suit. I think the Griz coaches cobbled together a decent line with not as much to work with as one might hope. (And that is no criticism to any of those young Griz warriors, just a fact that they didn't have a whole lot of seasoning)
It IS about UNI's line! That kid in the 7 jersey was a Pre-Season All-American, remember him? I don't since he didn't do jack against our line. They were very good and experienced. A reason is not the same as an excuse; one guy climbed the M and the other guy failed to summit Everest, but to your thinking the second guy shouldn't make "excuses".
Our run game will be fine, takes time.
Our run will not be fine this year, except against the patsies we play, like Drake et. al. I am quite sure you will come on here after we gain a bunch of ground yardage next week to say "see I told you so". You didn't see the NIU game, but you know all about #7 not doing jack??? You must telepathic. I guess he was not part of the defense who totally throttled our running game. You are a fan, we get it. But stop trying to sugar coat what is obvious to most of us about our O-line. Bobby knows it too, and has stated it both publicly, and privately. And yeah, I know insiders too, just like the jock-sniffer king does, so save the lecture. Nobody like a homer hack on a football board swilling the Kool-Aid.
Man, you gotta get your mom to open a window in the basement and get one of those Radon test kits.
I watched every single play of the NIU game, so no telepathy needed. #7 Did not have a sack, a solo tackle, a QB hit or even a QB pressure.
I never said I knew any Griz insiders, hell I live 640 miles from WGS. (I did go to school with Coach Hauck, and I think I might have umpired a game at the Clover Bowl that he played softball in, but never mentioned the 2018 line and his private thoughts on it).
You watched one game of football against one of the top teams in the country and you've got our line figured out to be garbage? That's some Yuri Geller, spoon bending telepathy right there. Of course Coach Hauck said he had concerns; find me a head coach taking over four rookies and all kids he doesn't know who wouldn't have concerns. I'm playing poker with that guy because he's a fool.
I assume your "Jock-sniffer king" shot is at PlayerRep, don't know what the hell that is about. I will say that I've never met the man, but he called my bluff last year and was a total gentleman about it.
And to close, I will bet you $1000 US that I don't say "see I told you so" after the Drake game. Interested?

PlayerRep said:Just looked at plays for the 2d and 3d to the last UM drives, all in 4th Q. Also, last drive of 3d Q. As I thought, little or no evidence of the Griz running plays too fast.
Starting at the UM 7, UM ran 3 plays, called time out, and punted. 1:10 off the clock. An incomplete pass, a completed pass where receiver went out of bounds (stopping clock), a run. Don't see how much more could have been run off the clock.
Starting on UM 5, UM ran 5 plays and then punted. 2:32 off clock. Rush, incompletion stopping clock, rush for 1st down, incompletion stopping clock, rush, completion, punt.
3 and out and punt. 1:18 off clock. Completion, incompletion stopping clock, rush.
Where's the evidence that UM was snapping ball too quickly? As I said earlier, the problem was not being able to get a first down, not calling the plays too soon. Also, knowing we had to pass to move the ball, not grind it out on the ground deep in our own territory.
mondayamqb said:Usually don't post about play calling but since it is Monday morning. I thought calling time out with 41 seconds left in first half after UNI's second down. Followed by incomplete pass and punt which gave us time to run a couple plays and get in position to kick a field goal as time ran out should be recognized. Often in the past, we would have been content to let them run out the clock and go into half up 23-0, Those 3 points look pretty big now.

Particularly that late hit out of bounds call on a 3rd and forever that gave UNI a first down and ultimately a score.
We clean those kind of mistakes up and we aren't having a lot of this conversation.
One of those was by a kid named Hauck. I’ll bet he heard about that play. Any guesses how many times he is going to run the M because of it?
That was an incorrect call by the refs. The refs threw a late flag due to the chirping by the NI bench. The refs should be sanctioned for their crappy call.
No, the late hit out of bounds was the correct call. The PI might have been what you are thinking of, but on the late hit, the UNI kid was a good step/yard out when Hauck hit him. I understand it's hard to pull up and the juices are flowing but the call was correct. Unfortunate for the Griz but correct.

One glaring thing stood out: God DAMN is UNI a dirty team. I mean, I kind of knew that already, but I bet there were 12-15 plays where they’d deliver an extra shot after the whistle, they body slammed Curran to the turf AFTER tackling him and after the whistle, on one play their defender took our offensive blocker down by the back of his helmet, there were lots of “slowly” getting up, cheap shots, etc...and then the obviously fake injury when they were out of timeouts...honestly they’ve quickly become a team I love to hate...and I LOVE to see them lose.

Only on the years when we play them/beat them, we hope they win a lot until we meet again. The fake injury we laughed about at the time. Didn't he like start to get up and then change his mind or was I just imagining things?
I mean you hate to boo a situation like that just in case but the timing was telling.

Contrast that with the boobcat game. It’s crazy; basically the opposite. WIU started with worse field position, tried to press it, and the sCats get a pick and FG to end the half. Backfired. Difference in the game.Da Boyz Mom said:mondayamqb said:Usually don't post about play calling but since it is Monday morning. Completely agree. At the time I thought we should take a knee and be happy with the score rather than run the risk of something disastrous like a pick six. Happy to say I was completely wrong. Who could have known that field goal would be the difference? Maybe Bobby has a magic ball, LOL.

No, that’s exactly what he did. He caught the ball, started to get up, looked over and saw he didn’t have the first down, then rolled over and grabbed his right shoulder. UNI got a free timeout to set strategy and the trainers couldn’t keep a straight face.

Karma did strike him though. After the touchdown they scored on that drive he did have to be helped off the field by two other players. Looked like his lower right leg. Maybe he got rolled up.
