Here come the “they weren’t very good after all” comments after a big Griz win. It’s like clockwork
Actually, took a little longer than I expected. ;)

I only know what my eyes tell me and I saw nothing that would indicate that UCD was the fourth best team in the nation. No run game, defense gave up many third down conversions and lot's of stupid penalties. The announcers started talking about the game in the past tense with 8 minutes to go in the third quarter.
So how do you explain their near-miss in Fargo?

No idea, didn't watch it. I could turn that around and say how do you explain near loss to non scholarship San Diego? I'm not trying to talk down the Griz win, I loved it, but there is no way to look at that game and conclude the Aggies were correctly ranked at #4.

My thoughts about a few of the recent FCS dynasties. Please help me with more examples...
Hauck left in 2009, we had a few good years but by the time all of his recruits graduated we were no longer dominant.
Beau Baldwin left eWoo in 2016... they're doing a good job proving they are not the team they were 5 years ago
Craig Bohl left UNDSU in 2013... are we about to see their downfall?

GO GRIZ #RTD #FTC

There were Bison fans arguing last week that Davis should have gone up in the rankings after their showing in Fargo.

We made them look mediocre because we're that much better than them. I don't know if we can play every game with the same intensity and focus going forward, or that we won't have a let down at some point, but so far we're playing as well or better than any other FCS team.

I've made it a point to try and catch as many other FCS games as I can this season through streaming and ESPN+, and the only other teams I've seen that have looked close to as good as we have are NDSU, SDSU, and Villanova (admittedly, I haven't seen JMU play).

I'm not predicting a trip to Frisco just yet, but this feels like a different sort of team than we've seen in the last 10 years. We've got a good thing going this year.

Also in the “GREAT’ category: Our rushing attack. 260 yards rushing. Averaged SIX yards per carry. While giving up just 60 in 31 attempts.

And I distinctly recall someone on here saying Meier was going to throw for 400. I said I’d take the under....turns out he was WAY under, getting just 275 (and 291 for the team). That’s just 350 yards of offense by what was, by all accounts, the best offense in the BSC.
Was looking for a good place to put this, and this seems good enough:

An interesting coincidence. After yesterday’s game, Dalton Sneed is #9 in Completion Percentage at 0.689 (per NCAA stats), while Jake Maier is #10 at 0.684.

FWIW: The best number is 0.810 for the Princeton QB, but he’s played only two games with just 58 attempts. Sneed has 193 attempts and Maier 215, in five games.

Oddly enough, #2 is Trey Lance for NDSU, at 0.722 … and he’s had just 72 attempts in four games. The most impressive guy with a lot of attempts is #4 Bailey Zappe (Houston Baptist) with 209 attempt and a Completion Percentage of 0.718. We’ve seen Zappe play and it seems like he throws a very nice ball.

Yep Zappe lit up South Dakota and is the reason they won there. I believe he has Houston Baptis at 4-1

Another good thing that I haven’t seen mentioned: Griz got 3 sacks, a forced fumble, two more TFL’s and 3 QB hurries while sending just four guys for the vast majority of the game. That kind of pressure with the ability to drop 7 into coverage will KILL passing attacks if they can keep up that kind of production.

Good: team rushing, the griz rushed for 260yds at 6.0ypc. Cal rushed for 233 yds at 4.6 ypc, San Diego rushed for 174yds at 4.0ypc, and Ndsu rushed for 198yds at 4.5ypc.

That's the question. If we can play that way, stay healthy, and continue to improve, (if,if,if) I see us as a legit top ten team. Lot's of if's.

Go Griz!

I agree that the Griz are playing with an intensity not seen for a very long time. It's like the TEAM has a chip on their shoulders. I hope they keep that chip. Having the Cats continually rated higher then our Griz should help fuel that attitude.

Interesting comparison between our game and the one that NDSU played:
NDSU UCD
Rushing - 202 110
Passing - 156 312

MONTANA UCD
Rushing - 264 103
Passing - 268 291

NDSU is fairly balanced but pride themselves on their ability to smash the football on the ground and yet the Griz got more yards rushing, and in our game the Aggies got less. While the passing was pretty close to equal in the UM game, UCD was able to throw at will apparently against the Bison.
Does that mean our run defense is better than NDSU?

Fencer, right there shows you how good Gubner, Sims, Alford, O'Connell, McGourin, Rice, Mamula, and Nelson are playing!!!

No. It means we played in two separate games.

Yep. The Davis team that faced the Griz was not the same team that played NDSU. (Yes, we watched both ... in fact, watched both twice). Oh, the names of the players were the same and all that. But even on TV you could feel the difference in intensity for the Aggies against the Bison. They were the (big) underdog with something to prove. Sure, they should have wanted to prove they were "legit" by playing well against the Griz, but it was just not the same. Factor in that the Griz were on fire = beat-down.

One other ugly that I noticed or maybe just stupid. UCD wide receiver #8 who was dancing and celebrating like they were winning the Super Bowl. On his second TD catch he puts up his 2 fingers for his second TD. Then it’s back to the sidelines doing his look at me dance and ain’t I great even though my team is getting their butts kicked.

Could not help but notice this doucebag, Snoop-Dog, Gangsta clown too. Swooping around on the sidelines after his touchdown(s) and taunting our defender on the ground. Real class there #8. Sure, you had some good receptions, but you are not All World yet, youngster. I wonder how he felt at the end when his team stepped on their dicks. Clean up your show-time...

You may be validating another theory I have about Davis - They don't play well at home. U Sand Diego that they barely beat and the complete let down against the Griz. Whereas they played Cal well as well as NDSU.
Davis should just schedule all of their games on the road.

Deming too, but I don't think he played on Saturday.

Looks to me like we didn't have Deming or Babros for UCD. That makes the D even more impressive as both those guys have been starters/heavy rotation players so far this year. The future is bright!
