My point is that the object of the game is to score points, preferably touchdowns, not "win" yardage and TOP. We had a coach not too long ago that seemed to really focus on those two things and it didn't work out well. FWIW I don't have an opinion on the offensive coordinator, I trust he his doing the best he can with the players he's got.
No he's not doing the best, with who we have. Christ sake, a good OC doesn't run a 170 LB freshman, converted WR between the tackles so often, or throw so many short swing passes to that RB. Bergen should be seeing the ball on screens, motion plays with quick hit patterns, or taking a coverage LB at least 15 yards up field.
A good OC creates more ways to get a beast WR (Akem) more opportunities. A good OC designs plays to utilize a break away threat (Flowers) the ball more often in the open field.
A good OC uses more motion for better pre snap reads, to better diagnose what scheme the defense is likely running. A better OC has more misdirect plays, to counter the very aggressive defenses we see.
That's just a few examples. Hell, I'm just a damn fan that's learned these things at coaching clinics, studying, film break down, and general observations over the years. There's no reason for a Div 1 OC, former NFL qb to not consistently try any combination of these things!!! Yes, the OC and OL are liabilities this season.
Sorry for the rant. Just can't understand how any somewhat knowledgeable football fan cannot see these things and back Rosenbach.
