Good, Bad, Ugly - Idaho

Good:

- this is the best game the O Line has played this season. They were creating nice lanes and blowing up folks at the the goal line for TDs
- Gillman is hands down the best RB in the conference and easily top 2-3 in all of FCS. 27 carries (must be the most he’s ever had in a Griz uniform) for 142 avg 5.3 and scoring 2 more TDs
- incredible balance on offense again…223 passing and 191 rushing with 33 TOP
- Idaho was averaging just over 200 yards rushing per game and Griz D held them to 108
- best game I’ve seen Lawler play as a Griz. Really great coverage
- Ah Yat put up big numbers against a good team and made some big boy throws (the one to Wortham for a TD and the one he dropped over the safeties to Deck)
- speaking of Wortham….such a huge addition to this team. A running TD, a receiving TD, a phenomenal kick return…165 all purpose yards
- 3 different receivers heavily involved…deck with 5 for 67….davis with 4 for 63….wortham with 5 for 55
- strong game by Boyd with good tackling and came up with another fumble
- solo created another fumble with a hit
- Harper with some great coverage and break ups
- the offense answered the call every single time Idaho tried to grab momentum
- peck with his best game as a Griz, made some big tackles for loss
- great kick and punt coverage and Morrison may be special teams player of the week again with 11 points and 4 awesome punts to pin them inside their 15
- Idaho qb did some awesome things, mostly with his legs. Remidnded me of Big Cliff

Bad:

- so many Idaho holding calls ignored
- broken down coverage letting receivers behind the defense late

Ugly:

- the number of times Idaho players faked an injury to stop the Griz momentum and tempo (5 or 6 times)
- Loud getting hurt. That one will suck. Shut down corner and a huge piece of the defense.
- a phantom targeting call that appeared out of nowhere on Wing. No flag thrown and in looking at replay it literally wasn’t close to a targeting.

Feel free to add!

Correct. Most carries for Gillman in a game:
With a career-high 27 carries for 142 yards, Gillman posed his third 100-plus yard rushing game this season and the 11th of his career, with the Griz at 11-0 when he crosses the century mark. His campaign for Big Sky Offensive Player of the Year is now in full swing, with the junior now sitting at 542 yards and eight TDs on the year and 7.6 yards per rush.
This could be the game plan in big games. Feed the beast

Griz special teams are amazing. Coach Hauck said:
"They couldn't handle us in the kicking game
It’s the difference maker in tight games and cannot be understated. With the special teams, Griz are clearly the best team in the BSC.

Have you seen the bubcatz’s special teams? Ridiculously terrible. Every game there is a disaster. Do they still not have a ST coach?

My neighbor’s kid said their game vs ewe was very boring, his favorite part was when the bub punter shanked a punt so bad into the crowd it sent some poor old lady to the hospital. Kid’s parents were mad at him for laughing but he made me lol too.

Missed holding calls have little to nothing to do with "officiating the game the same".

The poster said he didn't like all the missed holding calls. He didn't say the refs were officiating the game differently or being biased or unfair. He didn't like the missed holding calls.

In games, almost never are the missed calls, including missed holding calls, the same for each team.

It's possible the officials might not call a certain type or level of holding, and one teams does that more than the others. In this game, the refs missed that blatant holding calls. Everybody saw some of them. I thought most or all of those were clear holding; nothing marginal about them and not subject to interpretation. The refs just missed or didn't call them.

I don't think all refs in a game call the exact same things holding in games, even if they see them. Some refs just officiate a bit different than other.

In games, refs often miss or don't see calls too. That is rarely going to be even or exactly the same for both teams.

Not in this one. Watched the game live and watched it on tv today. Tons of blatant Idaho holds not called. 7 to 8 to be exact. They missed 1 on the Griz.

Appreciate you being confrontational as usual. Your schtick on this board is getting old.
Doesn't surprise me that is what you counted, being a Griz fan, but maybe your take away should be the griz should do more...

Should he be upset with the missed holding calls on the Griz then? That is kind of my point, they are missed and it makes zero sense to complain about one and not the other.

Just not sure how a person can complain about missing holds by an opponent and not believe that the Griz get the same. He is complaining because Idaho got away with 8 and the Griz only got away with, let's say 5?
But that wasn't the case. That was the point of poster's post. But feel free to describe the 5 Griz holding calls that were called.

No, if any were missed on the Griz, then Idaho fans should complain about that.

It "makes zero sense" for you to complain about stuff like this.

Good - special teams coverage and tackling by Jealini Davis, Tanner Huff, and one other ST's player that I have forgotten. Oline - both run and pass blocking, they showed up and showed out. WR and TE run blockings. Ah Yat - again. Eli Gillman - again. Elijawah Tolbert - again. Michael Wortham - again. Hunter Peck - again. Kade Boyd - again. Micah Harper - again. Diezel Wilkinson - again. Solo - again. Ian Fitch got a target and catch. Play calling by Pease - there were a few play calls on offense that are setting up some great play calls later in the year. Offensive execution. As fan of football, Joshua Wood's runs. Pizza with the president on national TV. It's been on my social media feeds all day today.

Bad - Kyon Loud's injury, personal foul penalties that tacked on an additional 30 yards after the Vandals had picked up 25 yards and flipped the field, tackling and pursuit angles and tackling an elusive QB in open space, not staying connected as rushers in the 2nd half (could have been play calling or execution), not getting to the QB with pressure (someone has to get free when you are bringing 6 and 7). ESPN2 broadcast or game management - too many times missed large chunks of the game coming back from commercial break.

Ugly - Idaho's unis. As a Griz fan, Joshua Wood's runs.

Good:

Offense in general played well, AhYat was solid, Gillman is the GOAT and the O-Line playing their best game so far all year.

Bad:

Poor tackling in the 2nd half, a few of their QBs deep passes would have been stopped if we made the initial tackle, secondary giving up big plays, lack of a Spy on Wood when they were inside the 10 yard line, personal foul penalties.

Ugly:

Loud injury, bad Targetting call on Wing, Idaho players behavior after the game.

Good - The offense came out for the first time this season with a throw first attitude. Eli still didn't have many holes to run through early, but then all off a sudden, there was a crack he ran through for 8 yards and the defense seemed to deflate against him the rest of the way. He's just too good to hold him down, but I thought the willingness to throw early helped get things open for him a little early and over all the line play was the best it has been in 2025. Also, it seems like this team is growing closer each week, not tight like I think the 2023 teams was, but both sides of the ball appreciate each other and it is growing.

Bad - The deep ball burned us a lot, and while that has a lot to do with a mobile QB that was big, elusive and fast which allowed the coverage to break down eventually, it was tough. This guy was (a punk, but besides that) more problematic than Vernon Adams and I'm not sure that unless you could put Wortham on defense that we have anyone that can shadow him.

Ugly - The penalty - you know the one. If that was targeting, I should be flagged every time I kiss my wife. The receiver still got up talking trash and nothing was done to control the silly antics all game long, which leads to one last item.

Outstanding = The Griz gathered up as a group and walked off rather than engage in a brawl on the field. I didn't see it in pictures, I am going by the account of the radio broadcast. It sounded like they were upset the team was showing the jug to the fans and all Idaho needed to do was leave the field. If they wanted it, they should have come to play a football game rather than try to pick a fight they didn't want to get into either. This was not Michigan/Ohio State, but along with reviewing the targeting call, I would like to see the league office look at all of the attempted flops and baiting that I saw for 60 football minutes from the team that was obviously mad that they had been put in that putrid shade of sunshine they chose to don.
