Good, Bad, Ugly - EWU

Well I was at the game and didn't have the benefit of Replay, but i'll post my thoughts..

THE GOOD - You guys have a pretty solid defense, you get pressure and you make plays. The D is fairly Young so it will improve by next year. Eastern had to work more against your D than any other team they faced this year for yards and points. You have some playmakers on Offense and you have a great fan base. You guys travel well and for the most part were extremely fun and respectable to be around, thanks.

THE BAD - I don't like your offense. You throw 10 yard passes to gain 1 or 2 yards. Stitt should have run Calhoun 25-30 times against Eastern and didn't. The two FG's in the first half were shocking. Why kick it in fairly poor conditions from 48 yards. You also have to go for the TD at the end of the first half. Eastern keeps momentum if they hold to the Griz to a FG there and EWU had just scored TD's on 3 of 4 possessions and was rolling, you can't kick a FG there on the 4 yard line.

THE UGLY - Calhoun's Injury. It looked bad. From the stands you can't tell what happened, but I was bringing the kids home at the end of the 3rd when Calhoun was being carted out of the stadium and he didn't look good. He's a stud and sure as hell hope he gets better!!!

Good analysis. I think kicking the field-goal before halftime had more to do with the fact they were receiving the ball in the second half. There is a high value on getting points going in and getting points coming out. If they could've put up a touchdown in that first drive after half time it's a 21 to 17 game. Just my thoughts....

I see your point and I don't disagree. I just thought you could feel EWU had found their grove and was starting to figure out the Griz and you knew Eastern was going to put points up in the 3rd as they were rolling in the 2nd qtr once they had a feel for the Griz D. Stitt looked like he wanted to go for it as well and once EWU called TO he changed his mind...

Watches one game and hits nail on head what many have been saying about offense all year.....and he has no dog in the fight. Sugar coaters I am sure will say he is wrong.
