Good, Bad, Ugly - Bobcats

Good:
- the defense actually held its own through a lot of the game. They got a number of big 3rd and short stops and played physical all game. Outside of that long 88 yard run, they kept the cats run game somewhat in check. Without that long one, the cats end up with 240 yards rushing….which is unheard of for that team.
- the defense did a great job with Mellott rushing….he had 50 yards on 10 carries with a long for 12. That’s really damn impressive when it comes to Tommy individually
- they only gave up 95 yards passing on 6/12 from Tommy
- thought Ostmo was the only bright spot on offense, he ran hard and I’m surprised we didn’t use him more (I believe he got dinged up)
- the Racanelli catch on the two point conversion was impressive. Glad he will be back next season.
- no turnovers

Bad:
- too many costly penalties
- abysmal offensive game plan and play calling by Pease (I can’t recall one shot down the field, everything was sideline to sideline against a fast, physical defense)
- Wilson dropping what would have more than likely been a pick 6 to change some momentum
- losing Fontes probably for the rest of the season to injury
- O Line gave Fife zero time to throw the ball around. It was constant pressure

Ugly:
- the MSU staff dropping the 300 pound trophy on the turf when carting it out

Feel free to add…..

Good-
Ostmo being able walk after the shot he took to the knee.
Bad-
Penalties
Ugly-
Griz defense getting gashed again
Gillman
O-line
Jones and Crews showing up Bobby

Good- D played physical, played well for how long they were on the field

Bad- Offensive play calling, abandoning the run, not getting positive yards on first down

Ugly- sCat fans infatuation with eating shit

Good
I think the griz defense played amazing good. As hoops points out without Jones huge run, it's a really good day against the bobcats on the ground.
Even though the offense didn't rack up much statistically, Fife showed some serious metal.
Bad
The griz were exposed as not really being a deep team. The starters have been in a lot of dog fights this year and are just plain spent a bit.
Ugly
Nothing really
The griz were facing a huge challenge in Bozeman. That team is deep and their rotation on both sides of the ball have kept that team from being mentally beat up despite all the injuries they have sustained. College football is a game of attrition and depth and mental toughness is why the griz have had so much success throughout the years . Dog fights wear people out mentally.
I am definitely a believer that the griz could make a deep run. College football is a game of streaks and momentum. I don't think NDSU is unbeatable at all. However the griz will have to dig deep and how many times have we seen that?

Good: D played fairly well. D let Cats get a bit too many running yards, but held Cats to under their season averages of points and TO. 34 points (41), 20 first downs (23), 6.3 per rush (7.0), 420 of TO (502.5), 6-12 on 3d down conversion (55.2), 6.6 per play (7.6),

No TO (by either team).

Mellott was 6-12 passing for 94 yards. His 2 longer completions were not high percentage passes for him, and UM had very good coverage in one and okay in the other. Ball was in the right place and nice receptions by receivers.

Very good effort by Griz the whole game.

Crowd didn't bother the Griz hardly at all.

Officiating - they let some PI's and holdings go (3 hurt Griz, 1 could have gone to Cats), but they were consistent with that, so I'm okay with what they did.

We needed an A or A- game from Fife, and got only a B game. Pressure and drops didn't help him. He ran the team well. No TO's. No forced throws. I like Fife. No blame towards him. I thought he fought through the wind and weather well. One of his passes late to the right sideline to an open receiver got completely blown off course.

The sportsmanship on both sides seemed good, or very good. I wasn't looking closely, tho.

Bad:

Not winning.

Too many little and bigger mistakes, and too many penalties earlier.

Giving up two 35 yard either good or lucky passes. Giving up the 88 yard run.

Not nearly enough O.

Bad on 3d down conversion, (2-12). 1-2 on 4th. That was a killer.

Only 2 sacks, but pressure too often.

Inability to get Grossman going (but he's been off 2 season, so obviously rusty).

A few injuries, hopefully not too bad.

Ugly:

The complaining and bad fans on egriz. (Good on Payton for slowing some of this.)

The number of comments that have completely incorrect information.

Other:

The Cats are good. Have had a very nice season. Mellott is very good. He runs the team well, makes good decisions, is dangerous at all times, and affects the game on every play. Their lines are good. I don't see them beating the Dakota schools, especially if they don't have more of their top RB's. Did Grebe come back.

These points are particularly well-taken.

Good: The fact I'm a Griz fan
Bad: Having to put up with Cat fans (even my friends I'm paying off bets with)
Ugly: The Cats ESG chant that seems to resurrect every game regardless if they are playing the Griz or not...
Ugly but typical Cat class. The "Hawk Tuah" shirts.....look it up. Now that they are a #1 seed you'd think they'd act like they belong there.

I hate pointing out things like this and there's one poster on here that is famous for it (not talking about you, Hooked). Point being, they DID have that 88 yard rush and they DIDN'T rush for only 240 yards. It's like saying Saquon Barkley's game last night was just ok because if you take away his two 70+ yard touchdown carries, he only had 115 yards rushing.

Having said that though, I do agree with you that the Griz D did better than I was expecting.

Hooked didn't say the Cats had only 240 yards of rushing. He said that they had 240 yards without the long run. What's wrong with saying that? And, without that long run, the other 24 rushes averaged 4.5. To me, that's interesting information to know.

So, do you also remove Jones's two 3-yard rushing touchdowns because they lowered his yards per carry? You're as dumb as they come.
