GONZAGA #5 WHAT A JOKE!

I would probably rank them #10 in the country. Puts them in the top 10, but they're the last ones in. They have lost 3 out of the 5 games they have played against ranked teams. I definately think Florida, Texas, Illinois and West Virginia are better teams. Just a little bit of nit-picking, I have always thought Gonzaga should be referred to as Gonzaga or the Zags, GU is Georgetown, when Gonzaga wins a National Championship they can then be reffered to as GU.

Interesting, then:
UM is Michigan.
MSU is Michigan State
WSU is Washington State
ISU is Iowa State
USC is Southern Cal. not South Carolina

If Gonzaga does win a NC, what do we call Georgetown? There can't be two GU's.

c'mon man.

i have to disagree with a few things here. first, st mary's is a decent team. they finish second every year to only gonzaga. they beat them in their gym last year, and were close to pulling it out at gonzaga this year. you can say the ref should have swallowed his whistle, and let the game go into overtime, but that is bs. st. mary played the same out-of-bounds defense the last two possesions, and one was a layup, and the other was a foul. the last thing i said before the pass was dont let them have a layup. and what did they do? and there was actually two different gonzaga players that could have scored on that play. how 'bout instead of the ref swallowing his whistle, maybe smu could have not been morons three times in a row, and played the inbound! just because a guy makes a huge mistake with a tick on the clock doesn't mean the ref pretends not to see it. the same goes for when a team is down three and bombs a half courter. just because it is the end of the game, doesn't mean if the defender is stupid, and fouls the shooter, you dont call it. and this scenario seems to happen a few times every season. teams only have to play good ball for 39:57, and then expect the refs to do, or not to do, the rest. dude got fouled in the end, made 1-2, zags win. and for the record, i hate gonzaga, and coach few ever since i coached his camp a few summers ago and he was a cock, and the camp was awful. so there is no bias here, just clear thinking!

First of all SMU is a terrible team. Last year they were decent but lost four starters to and are clearly worse than isn past years. As foir the end of the game that wasn't a foul and I really hope you werent implying that there second option was kicking the ball to altador-cespades for a three. That guy couldnt throw the ball in the spokanbe River from the divsion st bridge. I would hardly say SMU expected the refs to hand them the game but I am assuming they were expecting a fairly called game. A foul that was clearly on Morrison assigned to Knight, slapping th eball and barking at the refs all game showing them up, and that foul call at the end along w/ the clock mysteriously not starting. Homer job is the perfect description. I suppose I would agree w/ the post saying they should be ranked 10 simply b/c if they werent in the top 10 all we would hear about is how they should be. They will most likely get a two seed in the tourney and I see no reason why a 14 or 15 seed cxant beat these guys. I know they wont get past the second round though and until they do I am refusing to give them there desired respect. QUIT CRYING ABOUT YOUR SEED AND DO SOMETHING AND QUIT LOSING TO TEAMS LIKE WYOMING, TEXAS TECH, AND NEVADA

Adam Morrison is leading the nation in scoring for one reason...HE DOESN"T PASS. He is easily the most annoying player to watch in all the nation. He couldn't guard a poll, let alone his guy. He shows no leadership on the court and, on top of all of it, he is so annoying. He is cocky instead of confident and cries when things don't go his way. Redick may be the most hated player in the country by opposing fans of Duke, but when you watch him, he has a certain swagger that just shows that he KNOWS he's better then anyone who tries to guard him. He is also a leader, both vocally and by example. I can't count the times when he is councelling Paulus or McRoberts after they do something wrong, whether is be constructively or critically. He is so smooth and clutch and, as has been said before, he does it in the gaunlet of the ACC.

If you watched the game last night, they did a sideline report about how Redick had never fared well at Cameron indoor. The report came with about 11 minutes to go in the second half. The report talked about how Redick had 12 points at Cameron as a frosh, 14 as a soph, 17 as a jr, and, at the time of the report, only 17 on 6-15 shooting. But after the report, he had two steals and three crucial three pointers en route to 18 points after the report and finished the night 12-22. Redick is the unquestioned leader of the Blue Devils, and although I hate Duke, I will watch every game this year just to watch him. Next time Duke is on TV, watch Redick on offense when he doesn't have the ball. He runs for what seems like miles around screen after screen looking to get open....and hes still second in the nation in scoring, and his points come within the offense, not from 1v1 moves like AM. Undisputed POY.

No they didnt, they had a 12 point lead at half and blew it! They havent won in Spokane since 1995 and are 5th in the conference right now and arent barely under .500 for the year. They found out how to take Adam Morrison out of his game though, and that would be to put pressure on him and not let him roam around and get free because if he does that it is for sure going to be 2 or 3 points. You have to not be afraid of Adam and follow him where ever he goes! You will see come NCAA time that teams wont let him get free and that teams will make other players beat them besides Adam and I dont think this team is good enough without Adam to get into the sweet 16.

swill...they(smu)won in their(smu's) gym last year. yes they did. they knocked down every three they shot and beat them. and they almost beat gonzaga in THEIR(gonzagas) gym this year. they're not too bad of a team is all i'm saying.

i know nothing about smu or gonzaga so i dont know names. i wasn't saying anything about a guy on the 3 point line. the last two inbounds that gonzaga had they ran a triangle-n-two with a double screen. both times, the second screener came off of the low block and had an easy layup. as i said, once they made it, and the other time they got fouled. the play in question was with .05 remaining(questionable...but made no difference) and smu lined up playing the same d that they got beat on at leats twice before. once again, they got beat, a guy had a wide open lay-up, and the smu guy had no choice but to foul. sure, he had all-ball, but body is part of the game too...and he smacked him!! all i'm saying, is ya i hate gonzaga, ya morrison whines, ya he should probably gotten teed up at the end like any other NORMAL college player in the country(see florida state), but it was a foul, smu did play horrible in the last second, and gonzaga unfortunately did win. sorry. it's how it went. i just wasted a lot of time! who cares. zags won. they suck. although i do think they'll be sweet-16 bound this year!

If the zags had this exact season 10 years ago they would be ranked around 20 if that. They are now popular with an excellent Offensive player in Morrison defense wellum. But since they have been competitive fer a while and have upped thier non conference schedule they are treated like a major not a mid major which is what they are. Put em in the MVC and they wold need to compete tooth and nail fer a conf title which would benefit them later. They are very upsettable and would be the least intimadating team for the Grizz to face if we can make it. Familiar playing them. wouldn`t feel as overwhelming playing the Zags. OH by the way we are the next Gonzaga I am telling everyone, especially to people in Syracuse where I grew up. GO GRIZZZZ and Football is Friiggggin Loaded GRIzzzzzzzzzzzzz

i'm sorry did i miss something? you say how bad the zags are this year. you say they are in a weak conference and that if they were in another they'd have to play their butts off to tin the title. and you say that they are very upsettable(sp?), so much so that a team from the mighty big sky conference could beat them. not exactly giving them props. but you think you are the next one of them? why would you want to be if they are so bad? but i guess you guys are overrated too.

ilovethecats: That is a very, very good point. i am a fan of both UM and GU, but it's sometimes upsetting to me that some griz fans want to take the b-ball program to the next level, but are critical of GU by saying they are overrated due to a weak conference. Then some turn around and say they want the GRIZ to do the same thing as GU. If you think the WCC is weak in b-ball, just wait until the GRIZ attain more success in the Big Sky. The national media took a long time to recognize GU as an elite program because of the mid-major label. I think it may take the GRIZ much longer to shed the label due to the Big Sky's reputation, or lack thereof.

I want to see it happen as much as anyone; all I'm saying is: It will be harder for the GRIZ than it was for the ZAGS.

Go GRIZ, and ZAGS. Just don't play one another in the first round....

YES I would LOVE to be the Next Gonzaga. Are the Zags good YES are they a great team not really. I just believe they can beat almost anybody BUT they can Lose to a lot of teams also. If the GRIZ were the next Zags that would mean they could compete with 85% of the top 25. Right now the Grizz couldn`t go on the road and compete with any big boy. SO are the Zags at #5 overrated YES. Are they bad no. Are there 3-4 teams in the MVC better than the Grizz probably. Could the Grizz beat those guys here or a neutral court YES. I am not ripping the ZAGS I am just saying look at all the #1 and #2 seeds I believe that the Zags would be the least scary especially since Zags best player can`t play Defense. I would also say that if The Griz had The Zags exact same schedule AND Did the exact same thing this year that Zagas did with that schedule we would not be #5 or even in top 20. That was my only point. SO I will say it again If we could qualify and get a #15 seed and you look at all the #1 and #2 seeds and I could hand pick who we would play ..it would be the ZAGS

Morrison is starting to remind me a lot of another Washington State college legend: Ryan Leaf.

Very talented and definitely one of the best players in the West & the nation, but his attitude and his "antics" show me that he is a bit of a head-case. I wonder if Coach Few is at all concerned that Adam's temper tantrums might hurt the team at some point.

Good point Gato. I think that some of the east coast teams that see how he acts during the coarse of a game, and even after a big win, is enough to fire them up. I think they are going to get a handful from anyone who meets them in the first round of the tournament. They really need to hope they get a 1 or 2 seed in the west, or imo, they are going to have a tough time advancing at all. They need more consistant play from the point guard, and from the big man.

Gonzaga is a great "program" Period. True, they might not have a great team, but they have been as consistent as almost any other team in the country. Sure, they are not a Duke or North Carolina, but they won't ever be. They are Zags and have one of the premiere players in the country, whether you like him or not, he's a stud.

Look at there tournament history the fast 7 years...I don't think there is too many teams out there that wouldn't trade their success for that of Zags.

realitycheck.....i would have loved to have watched the game however living in the Eastern Time Zone and having to be up for work at three thirty kinda spoiled that one for me. I saw a person comparing Leaf and Morrisson. There is a difference between the two. Morrisson is a hell of a smarter person.
