Give It Up for McKinney

The thing that pleasantly surprised me was the velocity McKinney had on his throws. What a far cry from the kid we saw in the high school highlight videos. It is truly amazing how far he has come since the spring. Experience will only benefit the kid. Should be exciting to watch him continue to develop.

Whoa...wait a minute...I read right here that McKinny lacks arm strength, won't be good enough. What gives?

trent ran the ball when his reads dictated that he do so,,,that is the very back bone of this offence...to say he should not run it is flat out wrong, now i agree that it would have been a good time late in the game for breznek to play, so trent would not have to take that last shot...but the qb is a major part of the run game and must be an option in it, for it to be effective....

This was the best game TM will have until he plays NoCo.

You either have it or you dont.........kinda like the kid from Oregon...may not be a more accurate down field passer in college football and he can run. Mariota is a stud......TM is what he is.

Plus 2

AB needs game time experience too. When was the last time we had a qb play every game during a season? TM is likely to go down at some point during this season. Especially with the offense we run.

If Trent continues to run the ball like today, he won't be around long. He has a lot of poise but doesn't throw that good. He is a good runner but will get hurt if he runs that much.

You are clueless about his throwing ability. Virtually all of Trent's throws to the outside (and there were plenty) led the runner perfectly. Not that easy to do. Too far in front and it's incomplete, even or behind the receiver and he loses his running momentum. Do it right and it looks easy - which is what Trent did for most of the game. I was impressed with his presence and comfort running the O. Didn't look like a RS Frosh starting his first game. This was not a Div II team like Chadron State.

Certainly an away game at App State is a step up to the big time in FCS, but there is no guarantee that even with JJ behind center we would walk away with a W. If he keeps improving, I think we could be looking at a deep run in December.

Good game for him...I think after he gets a few games under his belt, the coaches will open it up vertically a tad.

Also, great quote from him in the Speltz article...called JJ a big brother and still a part of the team.

He knows that fuck can't fire him.........

I was impressed with his poise--he didn't appear to get rattled after that pic he threw !!!

He reminds me a lot of JJ--fast runner, intelligent, pretty good arm !

With Brezek as our #2, hopefully Trent and Adam stay healthy, we keep the redshirt on Gustafson, JJ is aquitted and back next year. That could be quite the QB competition betweedn Trent and JJ if yesterday is representative of Trent's skills, and I think it is. This kid is a gamer !!!

So last year early on you were telling us all that JJ was the playmaker...and he turned out to be exactly that....JJ didnt hit his full stride and really start dominating till the weber game....so what makes you so sure that after 1 career game TM cant grow and evolve as the season continues and become that same type of "play maker"

curious to know if your just pissed that JJ isnt playing...if you have seen soemthing that leads you to beleive TM has no shot playing at this level...tell us WHAT it is.

and there is not reason to use Mariota as a comparison of what TM will never be. We will never have a player of his caliber, nor do we need a player of that caliber to compete in the FCS. Of course Oregons qb is going to be a stud compared to our qbs, talking bout one of the best teams that compete at the highest level.

Jordan who? I feel bad for JJ, but the Griz have a horse to ride. TM never played a down before Saturday, and the last QB to come out of the gate like that . . .

My thoughts exactly.......

You guys do realize his longest pass completion was 7 yards..............right? :?

I saw a girl at Reds with an arm amputated at the elbow that could pull off a 7 yard completion.

Since when is 18 yards a 7 yard completion? And Saylor's throw was solid. Rosenbach game-planned very well. To break in a new quarterback stretch the defense horizontally with quick outs so they stay on their toes when you pound it at them with Peter and Dan. I get that you just throw out nonsense to get a reply, but I thought I'd stand up when you're spewing made up facts.
