When Hauck said, previously, that they would be conservation on O to not screw anything up, and let the D win the game for us; that was, I assume, prior years when the D was much better than the O. Things are different this year. In my view, the D was pretty good, but not great, all along this year, except for several games where they gave up a ton of points and big plays. The D seems to keep improving, with the exception of those big play games. The D seems better now that some of our veterans have been back from injury long enough to get back up to top speed. And, the apparent playing of more zone and not giving up big plays, have obviously helped.
I have no clue why the O has gone downhill in recent games, or what is going on with the QB's. I know the opponents are loading up against the run, but I still can't figure out how the run game was so weak last game. Like many of you, I assume Gillman is hurting a bit.
The receivers are really stepping up, and at least 5 of them are playing very well. I thought they had this potential for the last few years, but didn't think they were ever consistent enough or lived up to the potential.
I don't know much about the o-line and have to rely on my friends who know or played o-line. I haven't been watching games with them in recent times.
ST teams seems to have improved and gotten more to the normal quality of Bobby's ST's. I like our punter/kicker. I told him that at practice last week, we have a brief discussion, and he seemed to generally appreciate the comment. Bergen didn't look injured or sore on his punt return. He looked like he really wanted to take it to the house. He seemed to be more aggressive in not fair catching.
