what are we talking about here? His post is not accurate because taxpayers are not paying for equipment and uniforms. In the overall scheme of high schools sports, Soldiers post is accurate.

So you are saying that not a single high school in the United States uses taxpayer money to support athletics?what are we talking about here? His post is not accurate because taxpayers are not paying for equipment and uniforms.
In the overall scheme of high schools sports, Soldiers post is accurate.

That is not what I was saying. I understand that most of the money funding HS athletics comes from state funds and tiny portion of federal. However, the money you are stating is mostly used for travel expenses including Bussing, overnight stays, Referees, field and gym maintenance, and much more. Fundraising is what pays for uniforms and new equipment. So you are saying that not a single high school in the United States uses taxpayer money to support athletics?
So you are saying that not a single high school in the United States uses taxpayer money to provide uniforms and equipment for athletics? This is inaccurate. I am not arguing that some school districts have been forced to use fundraising, but a blanket statement that taxpayer money isn't used is false. That is not what I was saying. I think this conversation has reached its end. My first comment and only comment on the matter was asking if you really thought your taxpayer dollars were going to uniforms, that was the premise of this conversation. I stand by that statement that fundraising and student activity cards are what fund that aspect of athletics. I know that our HS teams have to fundraise every year for equipment for every sport... Football is the most expensive in our state. So you are saying that not a single high school in the United States uses taxpayer money to provide uniforms and equipment for athletics? So you agree then. Taxpayer money is used, not by all, but is used by high schools to provide uniforms and equipment for athletics. It just isn't how your local high schools operate because they struggle to pass a levy to support it.I think this conversation has reached its end. I never once said Taxpayer money wasn't used and I agreed. I don't know what you want here. I gave you examples of what our HS uses to fund uniforms and equipment. So you agree then. Really? His post is not accurate because taxpayers are not paying for equipment and uniforms.
do you really think you are paying for uniforms with your taxpayer dollars?
Uniforms? - your post said helmets. Yes, I 10000000 percent believe taxpayers are paying for helmets.do you really think you are paying for uniforms with your taxpayer dollars?
I can assure you that no HS is “fundraising” the amount necessary to outfit a 70-80 man roster, especially with a JV team, a freshman team, etc., etc. Even if the cost is only HALF that of what the Griz are apparently paying…I think this conversation has reached its end. In hindsight I should've worded my initial reply differently. I am not disagreeing with any of you about the funding from Taxpayers.I can assure you that no HS is “fundraising” the amount necessary to outfit a 70-80 man roster, especially with a JV team, a freshman team, etc., etc. Even if the cost is only HALF that of what the Griz are apparently paying…
What other way is there to judge a coaching hire?Every coaching hire that fails can be judged harshly in hindsight. Monday morning QB’ing hires is a fool’s errand.
Well judging every decision in hindsight is BS, IMHO. I mean, were there giant red flags on Holsinger that he chose to ignore? How about Shannon? What other way is there to judge a coaching hire?
No one listened to me about Holsinger. In fact, many came at me and continued for several years. Some of my info at the time had come from people from Butte and Anaconda who knew him when he was there. And I saw some other bad signs.Well judging every decision in hindsight is BS, IMHO. I mean, were there giant red flags on Holsinger that he chose to ignore? How about Shannon?
Horrible coach.How about Shannon?
Haslam isn't going anywhere unless he wants to go.HASLAM MUST GO.
I mean, yes, there were. But regardless, they both performed very badly and besides raising money and selling tickets, as an AD, you are judged by the performances of the coaches you hire. Kent was forced to hire Bobby, Travis was a no brainer, we dont need a coaching search..Citowizski bailed out his shitty soccer HC hire as an intirim and now Nate Harris might bail him out again. If Bobby & Travis move on and Kent leads both those coaching searches....lawd help us.Well judging every decision in hindsight is BS, IMHO.
