GFP - chat with Kent Haslam

Listen to yourselves…. Sound just like our whiny, pessimistic AD.

And yes, we should dominating FCS.

Anyone want to make the case for why Kent should be allowed to hire another WBB coach?
You are moving the goalposts, though. First, you said we weren't competing for championships. People pointed out that we are. Then you said we should be in the national championship every year for football. When have the Griz ever done that? WHY do you think that is achievable for the Montana Grizzlies?

NDSU has come the closest ever, and even they haven't achieved that.

10/14, including 10-1 in title games is pretty freaking amazing. Four different coaches.

Absolutely. It is amazing, and has been (so far) not replicated at the modern NCAA or professional level that I know of. They definitely came the closest I have ever known of to being in the NC every year.

They are such an incredibly obvious outlier, though, that I don't understand the logic of people claiming that the Grizzlies SHOULD be able to do that when nobody else ever showed they even COULD do that. I want us to be better than last year, but some peoples' expectations are just wildly unrealistic, and then they get angry at the University staff for not delivering on it.

The fact is we did not win a national championship in 2024 and we have not won one in decades. You goody goodies always throw that out there that we were in the Naddy. We were damm lucky to be there. With the terrible competition currently in the FCS we should be winning or playing in the Natty every year. The team should be as good as the Dakota schools or better. Why are they not ?

Oh, 100% agree. Hell, I think Montana's stat that EVERY Freshman recruit (that stayed for at least 4 years) had the opportunity to play in a NC from 1991-2013 is pretty freaking amazing in and of itself. NO other school can claim that kind of streak except NDSU.

First it was we aren't competing for championships.
Then the goalposts were moved to "we're not competing every year"
Then they were moved to "we're not winning every year"
Now its "Why are we not as good as the one singular outlier in the history of college football?"

How many more times you and wrong.wrong.wrong gonna move them?

I think our football program is in good to great shape after Haslam's SMA move ( Save my a$$) after his Bob Stitt hiring and firing blunder, and to save his own hide, he rehired Bobby Hauck in 2018 after passing over Bobby in 2015 after Mick Delaney retired and hired Bob Stitt and his gimmick no-huddle offense instead.

When we combine the Stitt blunder with the firing Shannon blunder, hiring Holsinger blunder, floundering volleyball and softball hires--hopefully, the new softball coach works out because the old one she replaces sure did not, I have to agree with right, right, right and OG, though for different reasons: We--UM--can do better for an AD than Kent Haslam !!! His Shannon blunder cost UM $350,000--hopefully, we don't end up paying more for his Holsinger blunder !!!

Every coaching hire that fails can be judged harshly in hindsight. Monday morning QB’ing hires is a fool’s errand.

I guess maybe accountability should come into play when an AD has had several coaching failures, as Haslam has. Holsinger wasn't a one off !!!

Who was the Football Head Coach for the Majority of those years?

For the idiot haters, name me one time in the history of college football that a perennial top 10-15 team in the country fired their successful winning head coach to hire some outside guy to “take us to the next level”. That has ever been successful? I can’t think of one.

How are high schools funded?
my comment didn't say anything about taxpayers not funding high schools. I asked Soldier if he really thought his taxpayer dollars goes towards uniforms and equipment. I don't know if you have noticed the trend in this state, but we aren't passing many mill levy anymore. Uniforms and equipment is usually paid for by fundraising and the small amount of ticket or concession sales.

In the overall scheme of high schools sports, Soldiers post is accurate.
