Getting what you wished for

I think taking out gash runs for one team and not the other is pretty disingenuous. I also think it’s entirely fair to acknowledge the body of work for Bobby’s 3-3-5 against various FCS Power Spreads was just not desirable. It worked to a better extent when we had Gunner, but even then these teams were going for 200+. That does not mean Bobby was a bad coach. In fact, he revived this program from the dead, and for that, we should all be thankful.
No, it isn't. Because I didn't ignore the long run. I calculated the other runs and added the long run. To show we weren't "run over". Also, it wasn't a gash run. It was a play that the D completely screwed up on from how they lined up to how they played it. You obviously don't recall the specifics of the plays. And, feel free to take out UM's 22 yard run.

The 3-3-5 did fine in recent years against the MV teams, and better than getting run over. It is disingenuous for you to only focus on the bad games, and disregard the good games.

Cats had 241, and averaged 5.7. Grizzlies averaged 6.4. Better APC by Grizzlies. Cats had 2 rushing TD's. Grizzlies had 3.

Cats had 240 in 2d game and averaged 5.5. That includes Jones' 54 yard run on a play the Grizzlies lined up wrong and then goofed up the D. Subtracting that out, Cats otherwise had 186, or 4.3 per carry, plus the long run.

5.7 to Griz 6.4, and 4.3 per carry plus a 54 yard run, does not constitute being "run over", in my view.
You said the Griz stopped the run against MSU.

For the season, UM allowed 142 rushing yards per game on 4.2 YPC. Take out the MSU games, and UM allowed 127 rushing yards per game on 3.95 YPC.

So, MSU ran for nearly twice as many yards per game as UM had been allowing to other teams, and ran for 1.64 more YPC than UM had been allowing to other teams. By no means did UM stop the run against MSU. How UM ran the ball against MSU is quite frankly, irrelevant towards how UM's defense performed. Regarding Jones' long run, I could just as easily say that Gillman's long run doesn't happen if he doesn't face mask Paul Brott in the backfield. But, those things did happen, you don't get to take them away just to fit your narrative.

Yes he does, haven't you been paying attention?.it's whatever fits his narrative for the last 25 years?... 👍

Okay, I said a lot of things over time, but I was addressing someone's comments of getting "run over". And this is what I last said above: "5.7 to Griz 6.4, and 4.3 per carry plus a 54 yard run, does not constitute being "run over", in my view."

5.7 and 5.5 by the Cats in the 2 games, compared to 5.7 for the season.

Yes, you are correct. The Griz were often good against the run. I have been saying that all along.

Are you saying that the Griz, by averaging 6.4 (compared to the Cat's defense of 3.8, "ran over" the Cats?

I looked at the Gillman play, and it wasn't a facemark penalty. You can touch the facemark. And, I didn't say Jones' run didn't exist. I just accounted for it separately to see what the Cats did on the other plays. It's funny that you can't seem to understand that. But, as I said to you from Day 1, you are clueless about football. You aren't even worth having a discussion with.

Yes, I would say that the Griz, specifically Gillman, ran all over MSU.

You should look again at the Gillman play. His fingers wrapped around the facemask. Clenched fist, not an open palm. Shaun Rainey has some good screen grabs of it if you're interested.

I've looked at the play multiple times, talked to people, and see worse facemarks not called multiple times on tv. You are too biased to be trusted. And you don't know how the rule is interpreted and enforced. I already discussed this with you. And, in any event, a penalty isn't the same as a completely blown play. You are mixing up apples and oranges.

"No Bobby, new head coach, no 3-3-5, lots of new assistants. Maybe 3 holdovers."

Looks like someone is living in the past with all the "debatable" statistics. When will he come to realize the past is gone and future awaits. Hopefully BK can resist the allure of the lakehouse and focus on more important things and people. Time to move on and I for one am looking forward to it.

Looks like someone in the know just broke all the news to Griz nation. You are way behind,

Absolutely. One is an unfair advantage, the other is something that happened that was a screw up, so the screw up could be looked at as part of the overall ability of a team.

It was the biggest screw up of the year. A complete exception. And my point is valid no matter what. There were 33 plays of pretty good D against run, and a total screw up. The 2 plays have nothing to do with each other.
