Get ready for a drawn out process

I think the opposite. I think bobby is a done deal and they just have to dot some i's and cross some t's to make it official. There are a lot of discussions from both sides that still need to finalize. PR already said bobby's agent is a lawyer so that alone will take some time with paperwork and final negotiations. Stay patient Griz Nation.

It's not just as simple as a handshake across the table. Negotiations take time, more so in today's world than the past.

Unless something went wrong today with the Hauck interview/discussion, which the Missoulian announced was happening. or something amazing fell out of the sky, Hauck will be the coach. Tomorrow or very soon.

Is anyone else even being interviewed? Not to my knowledge. Speak up if you have hard info on that, and please no BS or speculation.

Again, it isn't just Haslam's decision. Big supporters have stepped in.

My guess is that the athletic dept is providing info to Amie, because they want to try to control the process. Using a young rookie who doesn't yet know very many people and is trying to gain favor. Again, just my guess. What "scoop" did Amie ever have this season? Zero, to my knowledge.

It isn't going to be a drawn out process, unless something went wrong with the interviews today.

Or now that the World knows Bobby is ready to walk, his phone started ringing.

I agree. It is Hauck's to lose and these things take a little bit of time. He's the only one they've flown in and are giving the first crack to from my knowledge. That tells me he's the guy if he wants it

This might be true but UM controlling the information I don’t think is doing them any favors. Better off not commenting at all. Saying things like this box them into corners. Either don’t comment or be fully transparent. This administration, people like Haslam or Taber, are not great with media relations.

Bullshit. I bet he didn't even glance at any eGrizzers' resumes. Thorough, indeed . . .

Lots of good coaches in here

Yep. Their attitude towards the media may be the most dangerous thing about all of this. Don't turn on the media in Missoula-lots of people willing and ready to dislike the Griz as it is. We need better relations with the media, they are the lense from which the general public views the Griz.

I don't disagree with your first 3 sentences. Don't know about how the 2 are with media relations.

It seems to me, if he is the clear cut choice, and basically has the job....the extra few days are not needed. They could announce him now, to get current players and recruits on board, and then negotiate terms later. Just seems very odd. I don't see other schools waiting after they get their man.

So the question may lie in his response. Who else has applied? Is it someone we don't know about? Maybe a Jim McElwain - which would be a shocker obviously.

Jims in town!!
Pics or it didn’t happen

The best. UM can't afford them, however. Many are holding out for a P5 gig.

A surefire recipe for disaster. Need to do the deal before any announcement.

Totally agree, do it the right way, so you only have to do it once.

I think regardless of what he plans to do, sign Hauck tomorrow or go through an exhaustive process, Kent said just what he is supposed to at this point.

How many donors will they interview? Anybody know? Only those who've given over a million, or will they search for donors of at least half a million?

My sources say anyone who gave at least fleventy-five dollars will have a voice in this process.

Assume the cut off was at $250,000. Only a half dozen or so. A few other key supporters were also consulted. Many others weighed in. The rest of us provided our input on the internet.

Kyle expects we'll be hearing an announcement soon...

[tweet]https://twitter.com/kyle_sample/status/935303426115715072[/tweet]

No. "Something" soon. Which Amie beat him to again. Search is ongoing supposedly.

If Kent let Stitt go without having a solid replacement waiting with ink pen in hand, that would concern me. I would expect....."something"....."soon."

What did Amie beat Kyle to today? She got generic quotes from Kent about the process that may be lip service or an attempt to control the story through a young reporter?

Kent is pissed that Skyline broke the story before he was ready.

The athletic department is clueless when it comes to working with the media to put out positive coverage. Instead they try and control everything by limiting media access and it backfires on them. Skyline will almost always churn out positive articles for UM. The same cannot be said for the Missoulian or Lee, yet who are they leaking to and who are they boycotting right now? They shouldn't be doing any favors for the Missoulian or Lee reporters like Rachac, and yet...

I don't know what the answer is but someone really needs to convince the athletic department their approach on this is the complete opposite of what most communications directors would suggest, if they'll listen...
