Gerald Kemp to Seattle

Whether you think he will make the team or not doesn't really matter, but is it so hard to wish the guy luck in trying? Do I think he'll make it? Honestly, no I don't, but I certainly wish him the best and hope he fights like hell. Good luck to GK!

That is too simple and asking way too much of the bashers. :thumb:

I agree totally. Donny Lisowski represented well last year in the seahawks camp, maybe GK will do the same.

Wonder what position they will use him at?

GK has a better chance of making it with the Seahawks than you have of being a real person. Real GRIZ fans are with you, GK. Show them the perseverance you've displayed through some tough times.

Alpha and I are the only ones keeping it "Real"

... not sure why, but this is just a creepy post... :?

I do think Kemp has an uphill battle and his chances of making the roster or practice squad are fairly slim, but he isn't "camp garbage". Seattle invited him because he did something to impress them enough to warrant the invite. He is at a disadvantage because he doesn't have a position that he has played at a pro level, which will make it tough for him to beat out his competition that were dominant at their respective positions. His chances aren't zero though and calling him garbage isn't "keeping it real", it's being a douche...

Good for GK. He did not have the Griz career he wanted but he stuck it out and I hope he can prove himself to Seattle. I am sure Lisowski set the bar high for kids from Montana but I wish him luck!

Could it be that the posters are creeps?

It's not too far off. He's not even signed as an UDFA, all he has is an invite to the rookie mini-camp. It's a tryout, not a spot on the 90 man roster. Lisowski (sp) was signed as an UDFA, so he had a roster spot.

Couple of other FCS invites to the mini-camp as well:
Zach Ramirez, K, Portland State
Casey Brockman, QB, Murray State
Chris Billingalea, DL, Citadel
Austin Coleman, WR, St. Francis (IN)

Nice of you to bring up Lisowski. He wasn't signed to a free agent deal until after he impressed at mini-camp. Not many people gave him a chance (many Griz fans included). He wasn't even a starter for us and even though he was ultimately waived, he represented the Griz well and did himself proud. Like I said, it's difficult for a camp invitee to get a roster spot and its going to be a big challenge for Kemp to make it, but it has happened before. Proud to see another Grizzly get the opportunity to represent in the pros.

Wasn't Portland State's kicker Zach Brown?
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/2009375/zach-brown" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Zachary Ramirez (who went by Zachary Brown at Portland State, but his legal name is Zachary Ramirez) measured 6-foot 1/2-inch, 203 pounds. He did not run the 40-yard dash or the shuttle, but did a 34-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-5 broad jump. Six kickoffs went into the end zone, and was also a perfect 6-for-6 on field goal attempts at the pro day, including making two from 55 yards out.

I didn't know until recently either.
