From Sample's article: "With Montana president Seth Bodnar sitting courtside"

But what about Bobby Hauck? He was also sitting courtside. My wife, who was sitting right behind him, said there was a parade of people visiting him. Like a receiving line. For a celebrity. She called Bobby "Mr. Missoula".

Bodnar and Hauck are bringing a lot of excitement to Missoula and Griz Nation.

And the team marches on.

Yo PlayerRep:
So happy that you, your wife, Bodnar, Bobby Hauck and all the other johnny-come-latelys are enjoying the party. Please know that I, grizzlyjournal, grizrule, PeauxRouge, Zirg, griz71, Mavman, flatheadgriz406, Everett, Mouse, '68griz, AzDoc, LAgriz, NorthEndZoneDan, JaredKuehn, cmtgrizzly, grizband, AzGrizfan, AWF, Idagriz01, grizband and others who've been here from the beginning will be lining the parade route, tossing doubloons and rice as your police-escorted cavalcade rolls toward Yankee--oops, sorry--Dahlberg Arena.

Been going since 1974, even have a seat from the old zoo days, guess us old guys just fade away. I never want to say anything bad here for if I get to heaven I get to do want Mike does.

That's awesome. So what's with Citay leaving you off his list?

That's right; fanofzoo should have been on that list. I'm sure I missed others.

Neither time nor distance nor bragaddocio crankbutts will ever separate me from my love of the Griz. Yes, distance prevents me from attending games at Dahlberg, where I could be witness to the glorious fawning obeisance herein described, but I have been to several post-season games, as well as attending many Griz games in the Bay Area--San Jose State, Sac State, Cal, Stanford, USF--and earlier this month, Portland State.

My reference was to those who have consistently posted on this board the past several years, who despite the heartbreaks and failures to get to the Big Dance, have revealed themselves to be true Griz basketball fans, not grandstanders who come in to partake of and brag through the good times.

You say I'm jealous. No, I live by one eternal truth: The wise man is the humble man. I just question your wisdom, that's all.

You may be a fan from afar, but you don't seem to add much to the program. You criticize frequently. How's your donation level? Did you go to the ncaa game in San Jose? You can't even recognize good fans. I have consistently supported Griz hoops, men and women, for many years, on the message boards, by attending games, by donating and sponsoring, by supporting the coaches, by supporting the cheer squad, dance team and band, etc.

Yup, it's jealousy.

You? Not so much?

I recognized grizzlyjournal, grizrule, PeauxRouge, Zirg, griz71, Mavman, flatheadgriz406, Everett, Mouse, '68griz, AzDoc, LAgriz, NorthEndZoneDan, JaredKuehn, cmtgrizzly, grizband, AzGrizfan, AWF, Idagriz01, and grizband, and amended that list to include fanofzoo, while admitting I may have missed others.

Are you saying I can't recognize good fans?

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I rest my case. PlayerRep should take his remaining gripes to small claims, where they belong.

PR, may be time to consider upping the dosage of your reuptake inhibitors for the NPD.

You may not be a bad fun, but you are certainly an unknowledgeable on. Loved how Journal nailed you on the Grueling 5-Hour Bus Ride thread and photo. How does anyone survive that drive on an off day?

Hmmm, may have to rethink that Rx increase. Evidently one side affect is aphasia.

Well I like to think I am a good fan :D . So if that is a, although as Citay said incomplete, list of good fans then it is an honor to be on it. :thumb:

I won't comment on who should and shouldnt be on it. I think some of what Citay is saying is there are some fans that have been following the team reliably and with hope and enthusiasm even prior to this year's excellence. There are some fans that will get behind the team now that they are doing well when previously only football mattered to them. To be honest the basketball team needs them all even the very recent ones and they have done a good job earning them. I will hold extra respect for those, like Citay, and others who have been more faithful fans for longer than me. I really didnt follow closely until 1992 after I graduated high school in Billings and came to the UM. Sure I watched games if they were in TV but had never been to one in person until college.

There is also a group of posters on this forum who have been carrying it for years when the most posters exclusively posted on the footballl board so I certainly think they deserve to get a little more satisfaction out of the team's success as well. I could be wrong but overall I think these are the sort of things he Citay was getting at.

Yup. Beautifully said. Exactly.

Oh and TD and the team deserve all the respect and satisfaction they have earned with how they have played as well. They just need to not be satisfied yet. There is a lot of work yet to do. Hopefully they stay humble with short memories because in the BSC the only game that matters is the next one. We can't achieve our way into the NCAA by beating anyone in our league. We have to beat everybody and need to approach every game as it could be the last. Come March it could be.

Bad fans or good fans. Bandwagon fans or longstanding fans. Fanbases are made of all of them. I don't care if someone just started following the Griz BB team last week, we need all the fans we can get. The only thing I wish the U would consider is allowing/promoting tailgating and/or providing beer/wine at the games. Seriously, that would get butts in the seat. Make Dahlberg a party and people will show up.

Since 1966...lots of ups and downs...

Wow, I got mentioned, thanks Citay. I don't usually do long write ups because of my inability to handle several paragraphs. I suppose that comes from being an Industrial Arts teacher for so long.

However I do recognize that this is one hell of of a kick ass BB team, probably in my mind the best I have seen.

When I can't make the games I get out my zoo bleacher seat (16-21) and relive those days.

Can you two name any poster on this forum who is a Griz fan, as opposed to Cat fan or troll, who has not been supporting the team for multiple years? I can't think of any, but please speak up.

Citay was jumping Hauck and Bodnar. Huh? Bodnar has been to most mens games and women's games since he became president. Why diss him? Hauck has probably been to way more hoops games in Dahlberg than Citay, in Hauck's college days, prior 7 years of coaching football, and now the last month. Why diss him.

I've been to way more men's and women's hoops games than Citay in the past 20 years, and way more Big Sky tourney games and ncaa games, and contributed way more money I assume, than Citay. Who does he think he is? Other than a big mouth. Jealousy.

I talked to a half dozen players tonight. The younger guys plus Rorie. Also Dorsey. Seemed like terrific guys. I asked Nico has is shot was going down in practice, and he said very well.

I asked them if they looked at egriz, and they said no. I said good; they shouldn't.

Why are you asking me to name anyone? I already said I dont have an opinion on who is a good fan and who isnt. I certainly said nothing about Hauck or Bodnar nor you for that matter. I merely acknowledged that there are some people that have been fans longer than me and I dont know who they are but was thankful they have been fans through thick and thin. I also stated the team was happy for all the fans they have earned, new and old.

Citay, I appreciate the consideration and respect. Man, I see you were on a roll with a few of your phrases

As for PR, he really is not as bad as some of us make him out to be. Yes, he and I have exchanged some words on here, but it has been awhile. One thing I give credit to PR for, that I wish more fans would do. He tries to get someone to fill his seats when he and/or his family cannot make the game. That is something I really do appreciate. The basketball team needs the support. If every season ticket holder would do what he does, the 1st level of most games would be packed. It sure beats seeing the empty seats, when those season ticket holders cannot make it.

You both are great fans, Just have different ways of seeing things and representing. I thank both of you for your support.
