GAME DAY THREAD

Great game to knock off the rust and build depth across the team. 47-0. Keep winning. Keep improving. Stay healthy. Start peaking in November.
Go Griz!

Johnson did pretty well 208 pass yards 76 rush yards according to espn. However, against a team like this, I feel like a qb should put 300+ passing yards up. He's definitely light years better than Humphrey was. He does remind me of Sneed. I just want another qb like JJ tho. I want to see a game where our qb gets 300-400 passing yards, especially against crappy teams.

He didn't need to put up 300....or else I'm sure he would/could have.

He's fairly accurate, and playing a really good game. Enjoy it!
What exactly, would you consider "adequate" accuracy. Most people consider anything over a 60% completion record as pretty good. Johnson was 15 of 24 (62.5%) for over 200 yards and 4 touchdown. A damn good days work.

As for the D ... Wow! Got the shutout and held NW State to just 36 yards rushing. That's just crazy!

If you're quoting me, I was agreeing with you. I thought Johnson played great in his first outing.

This is true. And I think he ended up solid. It was first game with new club. As long as they have smart runs, he’s in good shape. Defense was average…
Yes, but let's postulate a pretty high average. I'd say pitching a shutout, holding the opponent to nothing (36 yards) on the ground, with no damage from just 183 yards passing was a pretty good effort.

Not quoting you. The system dropped the inter-most quote, which said Johnson wasn't "horribly accurate."

I liked what I saw in Britt. He throws a nice ball while on the run. He is going to be good. It’s nice to see we got some depth at quarterback.
Go GRIZ!!!

Posted this in another thread.

NW St’s average end drive position was their own 31 yard line on 15 drives.
9 punts
1 loss on downs
3 fumbles
2 INT

Very average if you ask me.

We’ll see how they use TM this season, but what we’ve seen from Johnson today is nothing like how TM was running in the playoffs last year. For the most part Johnson has been taking the opportunity to run in wide open space, which he looks great doing.

Well, his name is Johnson.

Well eastern Washington's qb has thrown for 350yds and 5 tds and they are in a dogfight with Eastern Tennessee

I believe their qb rushed for around 70 yards too. They always got a badass qb and a below average defense.

This is going to sound weird but one of my favorite aspects of QB Lucas Johnsons performance was his heady throwaway. He had a play where he scrambled/rolled out, nothing was there, and he threw the ball away. Sometimes the best play is an incompletion, I feel like Cam last year would have just taken a bad sack . I can't remember ever seeing Cam wisely throwing the ball away.

Johnson is a winner. I’ll say it again, the dude has done nothing but win. He lost one game as a starter in the mountain west conference last season. On nearly every passing play I saw him going through his progressions. He threw zero picks, and as you say, knows when to throw it away. He’s very poised, and calm, exactly what you want in a QB. I just love this pickup. Huge get that will define this season. If he stays healthy, and if the offensive line can gel a bit, boy this offense could be special.

The average was a joke…2 ways…average with an ellipsis, to show tongue in cheek…and just an average day at the office.
