The NCAA will always be around because the schools don’t wanna be bothered to govern everything. Hence why last year they decided to stay under the NCAA umbrella. Football will go its own way but everything else will be run by the NCAA
Well I did not because I assume everyone is smart enough to read the post I quoted, which clearly mentioned the mwc, and a defeatist attitude that UM would fail miserably in it.Okay. However, that is not what you "said" in the post. You may have thought that, but you didn't say it. You didn't even mention the MW, or any other conference. I don't think everyone in the locker room thinks UM would be competitive in the MW. Many believe UM would have to upgrade, probably significantly, to be competitive.
I read your post. It does not mention MW or any conference. You want a bunch of starters gone?Well I did not because I assume everyone is smart enough to read the post I quoted, which clearly mentioned the mwc, and a defeatist attitude that UM would fail miserably in it.
And if there are any of those players in the locker room today who feel that way, I hope they’re gone by tomorrow. Because no real GRIZ thinks like that.
I am guessing it has to do with the allocation amount based on overall enrollment? Why do the cats get 3 million dollars more than we do?
Historically, and at least for several decades and before the growth of MSU and decline of UM enrollment, the annual reports to the third party sources have shown MSU with several more million dollars each year. This was when UM was making much more in football money than MSU too. Originally, I had assumed it was to balance MSU's athletic budget and keep it near UM's budget when MSU was bringing in less money. I have never looked at the detailed State University System budgets/allocations, nor talked to anyone who would know. At times, I also wondered if the number could have something to do with accounting and characterization of certain expenses, for the third party numbers. So, this is essentially and "I don't know" answer.I am guessing it has to do with the allocation amount based on overall enrollment?
Now I understand what you are suggesting. Hawaii plays in the Big West, but in MW for football. Colorado College has 1 MW sport; Wash St has 2. I wonder if any current or former FCS level football team plays in an FBS football conference, or does so without complying with FBS requirements. But I don't know, and maybe there would be a way to do that. UM's men's and women's basketball and perhaps other sports would probably care about football being in the MW, and their sports being in the Big Sky.GU was in pretty intensive talks with the Big 12 a year ago to join for BB. They don’t even have FB, nor many of the sports Big 12 programs have. So, I find it a bit dubious to think we couldn’t join a G5 conference for football only, just like Davis and Poly do in the BSC. I guess I don’t know why flying the FB team to Fort Collins or Boise would be any different than Greeley or Pocatello, money wise. In other words, I don’t think we need more money to move up; I just think we need more desire. That’s all.
Football salaries are $5 million to $1.7 million.Coaching salaries for Boise St. $10 million.
Montana $4 million.
