so you want to pull the starter for what is essentially a 3rd string QB just because he can run but is inferior, at least to the coaches, in every other way.....

Yep, pull the starter who for two qrts against SDSU and first half of NDSU was out scored 38-0. Doesn't have to be for the rest of the game, but enough to let him settle down and get his cranium in the game. I will have 75 provide the stats for those 4 qrts, but I'm sure it isn't pretty.

whatever.....putting Simis in would have changed nothing.....it was not like Brady was 1A and Simis was 1B.....

All you have is "Whatever". Would it have hurt anything to pull Brady, nope! I guess we will never know, but still put this on the coach.

Curious at what point would you have pulled Brady?

Simis is a strong runner, but the holes we had today were pretty non existent. I guess it wouldn't have hurt to try something different.
Simis does hold the season and school record for touchdown passes as well as having made the longest completed pass of the season.
He also holds the record for the most fumbles in OT and the most ints in a quarter.

And most times staring down his primary...which is 100%

Who wants to bet me $100 tonight that Brady is the starting QB next fall, unless, of course, he gets hurt?

Maybe true but it's only because he's the best we have in Stitt's offense. He wouldn't start for most teams. Just sayin ;)

I'll bet you that same 100.00 that we won't win the conference next year with Brady at the wheel.

I'll bet you a $100 that you wouldn't pay up.
.

Jack I never, ever welch.

Would've pulled Brady part way through the 2nd qtr for a couple of plays or a full series. We were doing 3 and outs at that time. He wasn't hitting his receivers, and the run up the gut was still getting stuffed.

you overestimate Simis....pretty telling with as poor as Gus played that Simis never had a chance to get into the game...

I sure am overestimating Simis, what did we have to lose. Well, I guess we could leave Brady in the game and get out scored 54-6 in the last 6 qtrs. of the season. Oh, I guess that did happen...Fact!

they got outscored 54-6 over the last 6 qtrs because they weren't that good.....Simis playing wasn't going to change that....you can continue to beat it to death....but it didn't matter...

Bold prediction: Willy P. will not start a game for the U of M. Nothing against the kid, I think Stitt has other plans.

Not very bold. Stitt will bring in his guys and they won't look like Pflug.

Stitt wants QB's -- not hybrid RB's who can kind of throw the ball a little.
Looks like Pflug throws a good ball to me...him running and dodging sacks would only be an added advantage.

Yep, take a page out of the PSU playbook - Alex Kuresa just bought time against Northern Iowa with his feet and threw a TD. I think first and foremost, though, you need an accurate thrower who doesn't throw picks in the big games. I love what Brady did for us this year, but I'm not complaining if there's someone even better!
Exactly....Kuresa is making this team go. If that was Brady, the only thing he would be able to do is brace for the sack.

No H back, not fullback, no tight end, 6 rushing yards, 43 total scrimmage plays.
Is it really a QB problem?

"You don't win championships in August," Klieman said. "You win them in December."

the OL wasn't good either...

I would see it as a coaching problem!

you just want to overlook that fact that outside of the WR position the Griz really weren't that talented....

I think the passing game will come easier and the offense will start clicking when we can run the ball...I respect Nguyen but he isn't a workhorse running back, at best he is a change of pace back...run the ball and you can use play action and get the offense revved up...Qb then gets in a rhythm and we roll...of course you will have pick 6's if the D knows you're one dimensional. Also a TE is a must and security Blanket for a Qb. A more traditional TE might also help a Qb. We'll just have to wait till Stitt gets his guys and see if he will really work out.

Yeah, what coach do you think would have defeated NDSU today? I mean living coaches who are available to coach in the Big Sky Conference?

you can't run if your 5 O-lineman can't block 5 defenders.....

Watching UNI run the football with Bailey and Smith brings it into perspective; we have no athletes even comparable to those two. 407 rushing between them against PSU. They had 277 rushing against NDSU without Smith. If he intends to beat good D1 defenses, Stitt needs to hire an OC that knows something about running the football. He also needs to quit using most of his schollies for WRs.

I look at it this way. Since beating NDSU in August, which team improved the most? Team improvement during the course of a season is pretty much on the coaching.

PSU showed us how to run the football. Tonight UNI made them look silly - over 400 on the ground.

What he needs is a line that a) doesn't telegraph plays, and b) is nasty. There is not one single starter on O Line that plays with anything resembling an attitude. The previous regime recruited lineman that were cerebral. Stitt needs to get guys that are mean. Germer wants his current group to be mean and dominant, but they just aren't. It's not the kind of players they are. Having guys like Jon Opperud, Dylan MacFarland, JD Quinn, or Thatcher Szalay would be amazing. While these individuals are rare, their attitudes shouldn't be. This is what needs to be sought after. Not our 100th receiver.
