"This morning, Assistant Athletic Director Jean Gee reported the following: “I am very pleased to kick off the new year by sharing some incredible academic news. Our student-athletes have once again outdone themselves and earned the HIGHEST cumulative GPA ever recorded at UM. Our student-athletes earned a 3.19 cumulative GPA after fall semester! In addition, they tied the highest term GPA recorded just last semester.”
Again, I am proud of our student-athletes and also the staff in Grizzly Athletics – from coaches to advisers – who work so hard to help our athletes succeed. The new Academic Center that opened just last fall is already heavily used. In our athletic program, we emphasize the three Cs: excellence in the Classroom, in Competition and in the Community."
That is great news. UM student athletes are not only performing on the field, they are performing in the classroom. Please join me and the Grizzly Scholarship Association in supporting our student athletes with a monetary donation in whatever amount you feel comfortable with. They deserve our support. Team GPA seems like as good a tiebreaker as any given the Big Sky Conference has the unbalanced schedules in football and basketball. Bring the student into the student-athlete.

I think this would be a terrific idea ... but I doubt the powers-that-be would be interested.
