Griz fans, especially the thin-skinned ones, are not going to be fans of AJ.

He is not a big proponent of the Griz. This will be interesting.

You mean he's a writer, the way a writer should be? Unbiased.

I have been told that AJ is a little “anti-griz” behind the scenes (whatever the hell that means), and as thin-skinned as most of Griz nation is, I and see him rubbing the fanatics the wrong way.

Is he anti-Griz, or does he actually do his job and report, good and bad, without Wahlberg levels of sugar?

Does anyone know for sure why Fritz is leaving or our we left with our theories at this point?

He will be missed. Helluva guy.

Excellent question. He is a helluva guy and a good sports writer. It is just plain shoddy and shameful how several on here have posted unfounded rumor and innuendoes.

Sources report what actually happened Fritz has been inadvertently caught up in the scandal involving Bill Clinton and Prince Andrew hanging out with the billionaire pedophile and his "sex slaves". Don't believe a word of it regarding Neighbor, on those other two I'm not so sure.

Would be cool if fritz did some independent coverage like Colter does for msu. I think there would be a market for it.

I have it on good authority he misses the smell of sulfur and softness of the Harlowton water and is returning home so his laundry can again be static free and bright.

This is actually in the works as I have talked to Colter about it. He said the biggest obstacle at the moment is Grizzly Sports Properties, the amount they want for licencing, and showing investors that a dual revenue website is viable in Montana. Colter is a smart guy and he will get it going, just a matter of time and you will soon see a "Grizzly Beat" or whatever he decides to name it. Both Fritz and Colter said they were interested in working together on it so my hope is that they get it up and running.

As for Fritz, I will always support him. Great guy, great conversation, and knows more Bull Durham quotes than I do (You can't go wrong with a guy who loves Bull Durham). Always interviewed me fairly and I consider him a friend today. I know he started to get pushed out around the time Pflugrad made that quote about JJ's character. Same quote that got him fired. I have no idea if UM put the pressure on the Missoulian after that, but I do know after that they put him on high school softball and basketball duty. They tired to marginalize him to the point that he quit and I think that is what happened. I do not know the root cause though.

I will miss him and hope he gets to cover Griz football in another capacity. Long live Fritz and thanks for keeping our drinking conversations at the Mo Club off the record!

Thanks for posting that schmidtty. Big fan; loved that CP game....might have been the most complete game by a RB ever. I seem to remember you even blocked a kick in that game (maybe I'm losing it).

That was another life ago. Now I'm just a washed up bad body commentator on egriz who provides random insight into the Hauck era and supports his friends like Fritz. Go Griz and Go Fritz....

....... and yes I blocked the hell out of that first punt. Knocked the wind out of myself. Glad you remember.

This is the most ridiculous statement I've ever read on here. Having attended the 2008 National championship and every home game from 2006-2010 with AJ I am calling complete BS.

He's a Great Falls native and a UM grad. He will do an excellent job reporting the Griz in a new and up-and-coming way, while doing so in a professional manner. He started Griz Tracks and all the high school gamecasting the Missoulian has done at the high school level the past 1.5 years. He already has a couple in-depth feature ideas in the works.

...just when we were worried...
...if the next guy can coach...
...and now have to worry...
...if the next guy can write...

... ...

Also a Missoulian rag reader and I enjoyed Fritz. Hate to see him go.

The Missoulian is low and lazy so him leaving will only continue to hurry it's demise

Sorry to see Fritz leaving - enjoyed his writing a lot. Believe you me it was not easy plugging your nose while drinking a glass of water. Thank god I got out of there after my grade school years! Good Luck to Fritz moving forward!

Having a job on a newspaper staff in 2015 would be equivalent to working for a horse buggy manufacturer in 1915.

I completely disagree with this. Journalism is just morphing. It's moving away from print and more into the social sphere like Twitter, but people will always want their local news.

Well, you are right, people want local news, however the Missoulian is not reporting the news it's more like indoctrination of their agenda.

Have not read the Missoulian in years, and still informed with local news.

No self respecting fish would be wrapped in the Missoulian, let alone be used in the bottom of a bird cage.
