I thought Texas was free America! If I want to buy liquor on Sunday (I won’t) I will, goddammit. I’m a free American.

I've found your problem. :D :D

lol Texas is the land of big government anymore. But I think that law has been on the books for a long time.

Which reminds me I think you can typically get cocktails in that stadium but I would bet that the game being on Sunday will eliminate that option. May be beer and wine only.

Good to know, Badlands!

EG, how much are you selling your tickets for?

BLGF, best most convenient hotel in Frisco? Not necessarily to the stadium (we can Uber) but walking distance to some decent bars which will have GRIZ fans in them.

I was under the impression Frisco had like an actual downtown, but it doesn't really appear that way.

I miss Nooga.

Look up the Legacy West and shops at Legacy area in Plano. It’s 5 min ride to the stadium. Tons of bars shopping and restaurants. Also the Omni in Frisco is located at the Star. The Dallas cowboys world headquarters. Same scenario. If you look along the Plano Frisco Border where Dallas North Tollway and San Rayburn Tollway intersect. It’s pretty much nothing but bars and restaurants and hotels in that whole area. Anywhere along that will be good to stay and lots of activity.

All those businesses are used to this weekend as well.

Also a close second. Anywhere in Addison is a good stay and close to plenty bars and food establishments. Easy ride up DNT to the game.

The “downtown” area for everything north of Dallas is essentially where Frisco and Plano converge along the Dallas North Tollway.

Thank you sir!

Okay, so I booked the Dallas/Plano Marriott at Town Center. It looks very much like a newer town center community, so likely not too many breweries or dive bars near by. Decent choice?

Also, please GRIZ fans join me here. I don't want to be the only one with a GRIZ flag covering their room door.

That’s a great location. You can walk to literally hundreds of bars and reataurants. 5min ride to the stadium.

That area is where most of the fans will be congregating for drinks and eating. About a 20min ride from
DFW airport. 20-30 min ride into downtown Dallas if you’re not going during rush hour.

Remember the entire metroplex is huge so if you need a ride and will be drinking Uber and Lyft is easily available and a good way to get around.

There’s a smaller brewery just like half mile from there called Union Beer Brewery. My favorite brewery is called 3 Nations in Carrollton. It would be about a 15 minute non rush hour drive from there if you got an Uber. Another very good one is called Tupps in McKinney. That is about the same distance. Both very cool vibes. Tupps more of a small town feel. It’s on the backend of an old cotton gin factory.

You’re also essentially right across DNT from Legacy Food Hall. It’s worth a lunch time visit. Tons of bars and food places in a 4 story mall type atmosphere. They usually have live bands play in the courtyard most nights. You’re also a 10min ride from Hutchins. It is by far the best BBQ in the area and probably top 5-10 in the state.

Get there before noon if you don’t want a line to wait. But if you have to wait a little bit it’s worth it. It’s top 5 bbq in DFW for sure.

Appreciate the great info, BLGF.

For those that have been there: what time should a person arrive to get parking? What time should you plan on being at the actual ticket gate to not get stuck in crowds? How do the tickets purchased through Griz tix get you in the game....do you somehow transfer them to AXS app (read somewhere that this is the only way to access the stadium, no printed tickets etc). Anyone from Catland that went using tickets bought through MSU please chime in.

I went last year and it reminded me of the Griz/Cat game atmosphere. There is parking and NDSU had it overrun. I believe we were there like 3is hours before the game and people were setting up tailgate stuff.

Every food nationality you could want or ask for within 5 miles of the stadium. BBQ. Sushi TexMex. Authentic mex. Poke. Asian Ethiopian Indian.

Whatever you want. We got it in the area.

Also legacy food hall in Plano is a good place to spend a night. Tons of food and drinks and live music.

I've been craving some authentic Malagasy food. Any recs?

Was told by two different parties who attended the cat’s game that it was all fun and games except for the line going into the stadium. One of them said they were just finding their seats at kickoff. The other said it was already five minutes into the game by the time they were inside.

Moral of the story… leave the tailgate early and buy your last beer inside to avoid the crush

Pretty much where I spent most of my time when I went down. Great food options. There was a Cars coverband in the courtyard Saturday night that was actually pretty awesome.

I've gone for a few years now and it seems to be hit and miss, either the lines move fairly quickly or they barely move at all. For a 1pm local time kickoff, I would recommend start walking to the line at 12:00 or so, it's a short walk so you'll be in line in about 10 minutes. Bring a beer or two with you to drink in line in case there's a long wait. :thumb: For those setting up tailgating spots, the lots "officially" open at 8am but NDSU fans every year would always show up way early and they just get let in so you can plan on showing up as early as you want.

I don't know if it's been mentioned here yet, but Toyota Stadium is a 100% cashless facility, you can only pay by credit/debit card, or Apple/Google pay. Maybe apps like Venmo work too but I'm not sure. You will not be able to spend cash inside the place.

Figured we may ass well start one of these now. If anybody has any questions regarding the area…anything at all let’s put them here. I know Griz nation has a decent amount of people in the DFW area and Texas.

I live near the stadium and if anybody has any questions on any topic place them here and I bet we get answers.

Do they serve booze in the stadium? Very important for us GRIZ fans!!

 It's the food of Madagascar. I've never had it. I was just messing with you. I have had Ethiopian and Eritrean food multiple times, however. Love it. Sidenote: If you ever have a chance to go to an Eritrean wedding, do it. They do this 30-minute-long traditional dance with those curvy swords and horses and stuff.

Yes but it’s Sunday in Texas so only beer and wine.

I work with a woman from Eritrea. I’ll ask her about it. Her background is crazy.
