Frisco/DFW Questions and Info

What about Hyatt Regency Frisco?

It’s a good hotel. Connected to the big mall in Frisco. Be 5-10 minute ride from the stadium.

My good friend was actually the urban planner who helped develop that hotel.

BLGF, best most convenient hotel in Frisco? Not necessarily to the stadium (we can Uber) but walking distance to some decent bars which will have GRIZ fans in them.

I was under the impression Frisco had like an actual downtown, but it doesn't really appear that way.

I miss Nooga.

How early can one set up a tailgate? When I was there, the bison had a bunch of tailgates already staged in the west parking lot. It looked like they had been there, sometime. That parking lot was basically all bison fans. They seemed to have the whole procedure dialed in, old hat for them.

There’s parking on the west and east side of the stadium so I assume both teams could get a side. I think the west side is larger. But there are tons of businesses with parking all around the stadium. There is a ton of parking lots within a half mile radius of the stadium as well

Look up the Legacy West and shops at Legacy area in Plano. It’s 5 min ride to the stadium. Tons of bars shopping and restaurants. Also the Omni in Frisco is located at the Star. The Dallas cowboys world headquarters. Same scenario. If you look along the Plano Frisco Border where Dallas North Tollway and San Rayburn Tollway intersect. It’s pretty much nothing but bars and restaurants and hotels in that whole area. Anywhere along that will be good to stay and lots of activity.

All those businesses are used to this weekend as well.

Also a close second. Anywhere in Addison is a good stay and close to plenty bars and food establishments. Easy ride up DNT to the game.

The “downtown” area for everything north of Dallas is essentially where Frisco and Plano converge along the Dallas North Tollway.

Also everyone might think I’m joking about Tight Ends but I’m not. That bar will be packed Friday and Saturday with fans from both teams. It’s been the go to for every fan base that comes and it’s not hard to tell why. Everyone’s wives may not be thrilled about it but it’s a good time. That is also located off DNT and Sam Rayburn tollway on the Plano Frisco border. Anywhere on that area and you are close to everything.

Another thing to keep in mind in Texas. This is extremely important….

YOU CANNOT BUY LIQOUR IN TEXAS ON A SUNDAY….also YOU CANNOT BUY BEER OR WINE IN TEXAS UNTIL AFTER 10am on Sunday

So BUY ALL OF YOUR BOOZE ON SATURDAY FOR GAMEDAY

Couple of local huge liquor stores are Total Wine and Specs. Frisco is actually liquor store free but you can find plenty of liquor stores on the border in Plano. The two I mention above have stores up and down DNT and Sam Rayburn Tollway.

My wife said the cost was $1500. Hope that isn't accurate.

If that includes flight, game ticket and hotel room that’s a steal. I paid $1000+/ticket for JUST tickets.

But you got that FU money Tom :thumb: See you there!!

I thought Texas was free America! If I want to buy liquor on Sunday (I won’t) I will, goddammit. I’m a free American.

So, in regards to liquor on Sundays, are we talking just bottles or can you not go to a bar on a Sunday and get a mixed drink? I'm with CDA on this. I want my freedoms whenever I wants it!

Also regarding freedom… pot isn’t legal in Texas. So keep your hookah at home.

Yet someday maybe

Love your enthusiasm but trust me the ladies in your life won't like Tight Ends! It's a place you may want to check out after the wife calls it a night...

Meh, I’ve seen chicks in thongs flirting with lobsters for tips before. I’d rather go to a dive and talk to an old dude named “Red” or “Gene” or “Frank” who has the whole skinny on high-level TX HS football. If I leave without knowing who Allen is bringing up from JV, it will be a failure.

Looks like the charters have people staying at the Dallas Addison Marriott. I got into the Marriott Residence Inn just across the courtyard for $121 instead of $327!

I have a non-refundable room with 2 double beds at the Dallas Addition Marriott for Sat. and Sun. nights. $863 total with the very high taxes and fees. The Sat. night rate is huge. See below. My brother stayed here with the Bobcat charter a few years ago, and said it was a nice place in an area with lots of fans and lots of bar/restaurant amenities. And, obviously, at least 1 or more Griz charter is staying there.

Anyway, I'd be willing to transfer it to someone for $600 (a $263 discount), as I have other (more expensive) rooms where my wife and kids want to stay. Please send PM if interested.

Hey, pal, if Uncle Abbott wants to take my Sunday Mailbu-Patrons away from me, he can pry them from my cold, dead hands. THIS IS AMERICA!

In all seriousness, the strictest alcohol laws I've ever encountered were in Scotland of all places. I'm not much of a drinker anymore so it didn't matter, but no beer on tap over 5%, and no retail sales before noon (might've been 11am). Far cry from California where you can see people walking out of a grocery store with eggs, bread, and gallon of vodka at 6am on any given Sunday.
